The Official Assassin's Creed Thread

I snapped a guys neck once, but I was button mashing so don't know how I did it. Counters depend on where you are in relation to the attacker and timing. My fav is the one that ends with stabbing the guy in the top of the head with the short sword.

The best dispatches are with the short sword. I quite like the stab in the foot and then work the sword up the body.

loving the game, one thing which is a bit annoying which i dont know if any of you have found out tho...

When fighting, I prefer to use the shortsword in large groups, but if I have any throwing knives he sometimes decides to start using them, pretty annoying when I'm saving them for archers -.-... is there a reason for it?

only got 5 of the buggers at the moment lol

The game decides which weapon to use based on the distance to the locked on target. If you're further than 10 feet or so it'll throw knives instead. I actually find that works for me as you're guaranteed to kill your target, and throwing knives aren't exactly tricky to find.

Yeah I actually find this to be an advantage - it can quickly thin out a crowd of attackers, just run away a little distance then lock back on and throw, you can sometimes drop 2 or 3 before they get close again. Throwing knives are very easy to get hold of so it usually pays off.

Okay got it - highlight below. :p

Although the button doesn't show up you can press Y to use Eagle Vision, you'll then see all the marks on the floors and walls. To complete the game you use Eagle Vision by his bed. I believe you can also read Vidic's emails but I don't know how to do this.

So I've seen the next bit and then gone through to the next room using the code from vidic's computer. Is this game over or do I have something else to do?

Thats it, hence some people say its a weird ending, but there should a follow to this.

Cheers :)

I look forward to the next one. Some polish to the combat and differing levels and the sequel would be a very good game. This one is poor to average.

I really wish they had strung together a system that allowed you to be a whirling blade when surrounded by enemies. Using all the buttons for differing combo's instead of just X.

I suppose my dissapointment is the game should have been immense instead you have seen the whole game after Level 1.

Just completed the game tonight.

I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Yes, it was a little repetative and there could have been more ideas put into stuff like the informer missions, but the base is there for a superb engine (which has already been signed up for another title - not Assassins Creed 2) and it definitely leads the way both graphically and animatically.

I thought the ending was great, as was the story throughout, you definitely have a far stronger idea of the story if you get the Conversationalist achievement though. It sort of fills in the gaps.

Hopefully come Assassins Creed 2 a bit more variation is added and I would love for it to be set in another time, perhaps the Chinese Dynasties? Or perhaps even the future?

I literally got this game yesterday (In a Elite bundle as my April 06 Premium gave up in a wirl of horrific sounding disc noises) and well despite this not being my sort of genre I am really enjoying it.

The graphics in places are nothing short of stunning yet in others they are quite average (there is no tree animation?!)

I like different things you can do as the character (ie climbing etc) however I keep forgetting the controls at points so instead of climing I ended up pushing and jumping away from the wall (usefull when I had just about scaled the tower at the beginning)

So far this game has really caught my attention and it will definately be one I actually complete.

:)

really enjoying this game also. bought it last night with the 20% discount so only costing about £27.

One question though ( 360 version ) the game has crashed on me twice now. Once on the loading screen and the other on the start screen. Is this 'normal' ??

I'm trying to get the courage to collect all the flags, but end up killing people/guards in anger :o

The game is apparently rather buggy yes. One such bug is the famous clone of Altair one, where you end with two er Altairs. I've not encountered any bugs yet, and have just had a single hard lockup playing it. Badly want the sequel now though :/

I'm up to the 8th assassination and things are definately getting more tricky. I actually threw my controller for the first time last night after 7 attempts at completeing an Informer mission in Acre! It seems like you have to be much more careful when running round the streets otherwise you annoy the guards. I tend to be taking to the rooftops more and more.

On another note, I'm trying to get the "Grab and throw 25 harassers" achievement but can't for the life of me work out which ones are the harassers! I read on the net that they're the drunk/retarded guys who push you but I've thrown more than 25 of them and no achievement, so are they they women who beg for money?
