"Baby on Board", so buy a safe car.....

When i see one of these signs it does work and makes me pay attention mre to the traffic around me so it can only be a good thing cant it?

Personally I try to drive safely at all times, not just when I see a car with a stupid yellow sign in the rear window.

Agreed, if people need to change their driving style when they see these yellow signs then I would suggest that they aren't driving as they should be in the first place.

I cant see anyone paying special care and attention just because they see a yellow sign in someones window tbh :/

People seem to have enough trouble reading road signs and theyre a lot bigger!

Its for if the vehicle crashes the emergency services know to look for a child.

Except the owners of the Baby on Board stickers rarely if ever remove them, so would be more accurate if they said "sometimes there is a baby in this car, but othertimes its just me"

So Emergency services could be looking for a baby thats safely tucked up in bed with a baby sitter/brother/sister/godparents whatever.

What happens when they crash and have a "sexy chick" or "babe on board" and the emergency services only find a minger, do they search the area for a "babe" :P

Luckily most of us don't need a sign on the car in front to remind us to pay attention :)

I drive an Impreza turbo and i also have a 10month old, When hes in the car with me i have a "baby on board" sign in my back window. It sends a message out to all the boy racers that im not interested in racing them, Not that i would be anyway of course. When i see one of these signs it does work and makes me pay attention mre to the traffic around me so it can only be a good thing cant it?

I find the signs far more informative for saying "Driver not paying full attention to the road, screaming kid is more important".

But then I drive safely all the time, something that a lot of people who carry baby on board stickers could do to learn...

So thats an admission that you don't pay attention when driving. Interesting.

Are you saying you wouldnt mind crashing into a regular car but you'll make extra effort not crash into a baby on board car?

Maybe they can't afford fancy cars?
The signs are stupid yeah, but safe cars cost money, my parents couldn't afford anything other than a really run down runabout.

I'd rather they drive one of them and a big pointless city tank like all the suburban *** heads seem to round here. Or pointlessly drive a people carrier with one or two kids.

Why do people put these signs on crap cars?

I've often wondered that, when I've ever found myself in my HGV for example, hurtling up to a queue of stationary traffic on the Motorway, I've not yet thought to myself

"Hmm, that car has a Baby on board, I must not crash into that one then......":D

They advertise the driver to me as "potential moron ahead!" :D

Its not an admission to anything and anyone who says they pay complete attention/concentration 100 percent of the time is lying imo of course.:D

My wife has Princess or Babe or some such sign. Its pink and I think its particularly low rent.

However, that fact that it upsets some people it will remain in place. :)

Those that are offended by them really need to get a grip. IMO, its got nothing to do with whether your driving too close and your endangering my child.

Unless your a complete halfwit (and if you were you wouldn't notice the sign anyway) you would keep a reasonable distance in any case. A low speed rear impact isn't going to harm a child too much - their more bendy than adults and quite resilient. They are not made of china, I know, I have one.

If the speeds were such that serious injury occured, the speeds would be too high to read the sign in the first place!

The sign does however alert you as the person driving behind that there are children in the car in front and children are a distraction much the same as a phone, smoking, or eating.

They fidget, they ask questions, they fight, they spill drinks, they ask you to take half eaten food, they want to play eye spy etc etc.

How about this - the person with the sign and the child is warning the car behind may do something unexpected so please be wary of said car. I've wondered across lanes on a motorway after my child threw up everywhere and needed supervision in order to not choke. Maybe a car behind saw the sign and thought I'll hang back a bit just in case. If the sign wasn't there and I swerved a serious accident could have happened.

Rant over.........now then............wheres the thread on mother and baby spaces!!!! ;)
