Surely the front of cars these days are designed to crumple whereas the rears aren't. I had a ford mini van read-end my car, the ford was worse for wear whereas my car just had a few small scratches on the rear bumper.

about 7-8 years ago my dad ran his E39 into the back of a stationary mondeo at no more than 10mph on the M20
the bmw looked very damaged..
the bonnet crumpled up a good foot or so which made the rain steam off the engine, one of the headlights was smashed and the functioning one shone up into the sky..
the mondeo had a scratch at most
no hire car yet.
booked in for 3 track days over the next 10 days and the first is BMW specific and the others will depend on the weather. if its dry then noble, wet it will be the M5. therefore car not going into the garage until after these are done.

Silly example to use in any case, no way in a million years would he be put out by a Corsa. Would be an outrage, Help Hire will sort him out like for like.
I do see the point Fox was trying to make though, I was fuming when offered a Ka for my hire.
