Water cooling case shootout!

Hi, actually there is plenty of room to mount a rad at the bottom of a A71 without having to cut anything and you can retain the hard drives as well. Then you just mount the PSU at the top of the case....
Chris

That would be great but I am limited to a bottom placement of PSU with my Hiper Type-R PSU with the power connector placement, but its a good point!

Another option would be to mount the PSU in the drive bays leaving the top and bottom of the A71 for 2x 120.3's :)

Oh.. the options!

Any v2000+ owners out there wanting to tell me why I should buy one?

Simply because they look 10x nicer then the other options... Yes you will probably have to cut it, but that just adds to the fun and really makes it feel like you have a unique case. Mines GGoing to be hacked up this weekend :)

How are you modding yours? I think I would put 2x 120.3's in the bottom if possible, one on top of each other on their sides with 2 FG120 vents on one side.

I don't know if they would fit like that but it would be extreme coolage!

Performance shroud is a bit surplus to requirements from what I understand, not sure its worth the money ? Even Macci notes it makes very little difference.

Hi, that might be so, however in my situation it lowers the radiator, thus making the barbs just right so they sit through the PSU cage at the top of the case, this makes them much more accessible to attach pipes onto...

Not just that but they do eliminate a lot of noise caused by the fan blades being further away from the radiator grill.

Yep, can see that being a solid reason chriscatt :)

They do lower noise, how much I am unsure .... but my DS12L's are mounted direct (well with neopreyne cushion) and run @ 7v ..... what noise :p :D

is there ventilation down there too? obviously the TJ07 has bit grill sides down there.

I have a TJ07 and am pretty pleased with it. Rebuilding my rig at the moment with X38 and new processor and was initially thinking of updateing the case as well but couldn't find anything better for my purposes so am sticking with the same. Big advantage is to cutting/drilling needed. Has grills on both sides so you gan have a single 360 with fans on both sides for a push/pull arrangement. This would be plenty for a CPU/GFX and northbridge blocks.

Hi, naa no grills, obviously, I guess the side panels could be modded though. However look at this picture:

Four fans sucking in cool air and a large PSU vent on the rear, I'm sure they can be used to circulate air...

So you pulling air over that 120.3 and out the top of the case?

Side window being cut in for the top compartment, and then a vent in the bottom for a pa120.3 - This will either be meshed, or possibly mount a rad grill or something, i'll see which looks nicer :)

As for the stacked 120.3's, not going to happen im afraid, i was going to stack a 120.2 ontop of the 120.3, but i need another 30-40mm, there exactly 240mm from the bottom to the top of the lower compartment. Tempted to have each rad on each side, but then there would only be 40mm between the fans blowing in opposite directions, not too happy about that, but there is plenty of room and it shouldnt cause any problems, the other thing im tempted to do is to have a 120.3 venting out of the side, and a pa160 on the front fan... soo many posibilities :D

Hi, nope, I got it setup for cool air in and then out the back of the case, not sure if this is the best but in the thermochill faq it says push works best with a shroud...

that does look nice :D i love that case

Hi, thanks for that warbird, I got the psu and hard drives in now. Tomorrow I plan to drain my old water cooling sytem down, transfer over the CPU and both gfx cards then set about mounting the pump and reservoir. I can only do a bit at a time as I'm working full time and I've private IT jobs that need to be done as well...

i'd love to go water, but i'm still **** scared of the idea, knowing my luck like

Im gonna go watercooled :) I have no idea how to set it up, but simple thing - read up on it. There will be loads of manuals and tuts on it :) and I seen a video review for that case and it was LOOOOUUUUUD!

Which case stevenazari1 ?

TBH the first thing you do, if after silence, is junk the stock fans and replace with something else ;)

And yes, read forums and ask ppl already on it, you quickly learn enough to delve into watercooling with a decent idea of things :)

I dont know which of those I'd choose to be honest - 2 things I want - style and quietness, I dont want a 3/4/5 fanned case. I want it all liquid cooled with a radiator. fans are a thing of the past really - I just dont think anyone has done enough to not need them :(
