Dilemma, I just can't decide.

what concerns me the most is what NokkonWud and others have said about the PS3’s dead zones on the controller affecting FPS type games.

It's a major problem with the current Six-Axis and is a nightmare, but this has been rectified with the Dual Shock 3 apparently (going from what I've heard from the PS3 members I respect here) so if you could afford that I wouldn't let it put you off getting the PS3. It's a brilliant console, and for me, I'd take Uncharted over Crysis any day.

To the OP.
I would definitly go for the PS3 over a PC upgrade as it really feels that this is what you want to do from this thread. I wouldnt trade in your 360 for it though, the main reason the cost of a 60GB console is up at the moment is christmas, if you wait to the new year your more than likely going to see it back at a reasonable price. You are also more likely to see some good deals on a PS3 with games in the January sales.

I have no intention of trading in my beloved 360 for one, just a few games I am done with.
I'm not fussed about the 60GB version as I don't need the BC and lack of additional USB ports the 40GB has missing.

In that case I would think getting a PS3 in the january sales would be the best way forward, you should get some really good bundles in high street outlets then.

build a pc ive had my ps3 for a couple months only used it a few times always on pc so much better for online play

We can drag up the oblivion thread if you want, then you can be wrong again, top range PC for £200? yeah ok then, telling lies won't make your point seem any better. Fact is I already proved that you can get a decent GFX card way cheaper than the cost of a PS3, which was the point someone was wrongly trying to state, so how about you ignore the facts and make it up as you go along.

;):p

I've never looked at console deals in the January sales, they do generally do better deals then?
I'm not really impressed with the current bundle deals, the games they are offering are not really my cup of tea and one certain retailer said they would give £5 if I traded in the game on offer with the deal.
I was hoping they'd be doing bundled deals with RFOM or F1 but no one seems to be doing it.
I'm kind of kicking myself for missing out on the 60GB PS3 deals cos for £350, compared to the current 40GB deals, they were much better.
I've found the best offer I can find for trading in a few Xbox 360 games for the 40GB PS3 and 3 blu-ray films (again not really my taste).
I've suggested to the other half that she gets me AC and HL2 for the Xbox 360 for Xmas.
That'd keep me quiet until the new year and I'll look again at the bundled deals on offer.

Decisions decisions decisions! Can you go wrong with either option!

I got a 360 and think it offers terrific value for money. Personally though, i find FPS game unsatisfying as i cannot get the hang of the controller so i've just shelled out on bits for a new PC with an 8800GT.

Having read about Crysis I probadly won't get it till a next gen card comes out as there are plenty of other games about to keep me going in the meantime!

So, i'd say getting a new rig just for Crysis at this moment in time isn't a good idea!

think about whats games you want the most, as thats the only real factor as your considering both for their exclisive games

I would go for the Ps3 route instead, i used to be really into pc gaming. But it just costs way to much money i find. Im a big console gamer and i just find the comunity much nicer on consoles.

The PC is not worth the money to play crysis, i just spent over a grand on a new pc to play crysis and UT3 and it dosent run crysis that well (high detail 1680x1050 about 20-40fps).
It's a bit unfair comparison because many PS3 or 360 games especially COD4, run lower than 720p resolution.

I was on my way to one the bigger retailers as they seemed to be offering a better deal when I came across a small independent retailer with sign saying '40 PS3 + 1 game £299' so asked them what were they game choices', they mentioned RFOM, he had my interest.
I got him to check the value of the Xbox 360 games I wanted to trade in, (a certain video rental shop has previously offered me £32 for them and another chain of gaming shops had offered me £50).
So sales assistant said £70 and I was really impressed.
I asked about the cost of theor HDMI cables and he said he'd throw one in for free, so the deal was done :)
My shiny new black toy is currently doing the latest updates and I'm waiting for the controller to charge up before playing RFOM.
I'm well chuffed that a small independent retailer with only 2 shops can stick a finger up to the rip off big chains and offer a better overall deal.

I have to say, the build quality of the PS3 seems better than my Xbox 360 but the controller of the PS3 feels too light by comparison.
Thanks all for the advice / opinons :)
Right, time to set up my user ID and PSN account.
PS. Don't tell the missus but I am also about to order Unchartered and bid for Formula one on the bay ;)

Get a Dual Shock 3, it is the controller that Sony should have released originally, yes it is going to cost you another £35 if you import one right now, but I personally think it's worth it for the improvements it gives over the SixAxis.

When are they out here Ino? Have you tried F1 with it, does it have rumble support enabled?

Yeah I intend to get one.
Any idea when they are released in the UK?

Uncharted seems to be the game that is turning a lot of people.

I wouldn't say turning people. I'd say it's exciting those who had their PS3's for a long time and were waiting for something decent, i.e. Me.
It will be the likes of MGS or GT that will turn people.
A lot of people are buying PS3's anyway, probably because they didn't read up online and are expecting it to be successful like its 2 predecessors.
