I've been looking at pics of the dual shock 3 controller and it looks the same as the six axis controller to me?
Why oh why haven't Sony given the dual shock 3 proper triggers like the Xbox 360's controller?
Ok so today is my first time with a PS3 controller but I am so use to the 360's controller that when I am playing RFOM, I keep pressing the wrong button for fire and I end up changing weapons by mistake.
Are there any decent alternatives to the Sony controllers?
If only I could use my 360 controller on my PS3 :(
Otherwise I'll just have to try and get used to Sony strange way of doing things.

No one knows why they didn't change the triggers as they have been chastised several times, in fact, convex triggers offer absolutely zero benefits and only hinder the pad.

However, the pad does look the same, but with vibration and better analogue sticks.

It is cosmetically the same (though the quality of plastic used is much better on the DS3) the only obvious improvements are the rumble, and the improved sticks.

Its worth it for these alone though, stick with it and you will get used to it.

I've been looking at them on the auction site and I'm not impressed with the prices and p&p via import.
Think I'll wait until they are released over here.
I'll be a monkeys uncle if I am going to pay £40 or more.

The white DS3 are £36.48 where i got mine from and thats including all the shipping and handling costs, black ones are slightly more expensive. Both types are currently in stock.

Has it at least got some extra weight in it? I remember picking up a controller while i was in a store and almost threw it over my head how light it was.

T.

Yes, it will weigh more. Remember that Rumble in a pad is caused by a weight spinning round inside the controller. Sixaxis = No Rumble so no Weight.

The triggers are poor comapared with the 360 but they are atleast better than on the Sixaxis... ie its actually possible to control the throttle in games like F1 now.

Mine is sitting at East Midlands airport having come from Hong Kong via Leipzig. If this DS3 pad isn't a marked improvement then I'm afraid my PS3 is being sold and I'll wait for PS4 (with PS3 backwards compatibility) when hopefully they'll introduce a more ergonomic pad for ALL peoples of the world not just the Japanese with their teeny hands.

I was actually wondering if Sony only had the Japanese in mind when it comes to their controller design but I've just compared my Xbox 360's controller design to my six axis and they are more or less the same in length but different in width and ergonomic design.
