hi, i have found a great deal on the x1950 pro and on the 3850 and i want to know which one is better for the money.

powercolour x1950 pro ac2 512mb = £78

gecube 3850 512mb edition with dual slot cooler = £125

ok which one has better price preformance

sorry if this is against the rules.

hi, thanks for the replies. i see that that one is single slot, yes?

is it worth spending £15 more to get a dual slot cooler and a bit of a overclock? it will be in this case

thanks

and is it generic like the ocuk x1950 pro? or is only gibbo that knows that? the price seems very cheap compared to everywere else with the 512 version.

and am i right in thinking that if i ordered this up today the money would not be taken out of my bank account until it comes in stock? i was thinking of ordering this up with a monitor, would the money not be taken out until they can send them both out?

Destroys it? how does that translate into % terms?

I am thinking of getting a HD3850 to try, its a nice price and some of my friends may go for an xmas upgrade costing just over £100

i would like to know the same thing, as people say destroy doesn't realy give a very good comparison betewwn them. :(

I got an X1950Pro exactly this time last year, I was so impressed about it I made the ***Official X1950Pro Thread*** lol :D

For the small price difference I personally would recommend getting the latest gen of cards but I guess the X1950Pro still has some life left for the 'casual' gamer who plays at lower resolutions. . .

Lol yeah its forum slang, i think it goes something like this?

Destroys it = 100% faster

Kills it via lethal injection = 90% faster

Chops off its head = 80% faster

Eats it and spits out the bits it doesn't like = 70% faster

Grinds it into dust = 60% faster

Slaps it Senseless = 50% faster

Pokes out its eyes and eats them = 40% faster

Slashes its jugular and makes blood soup= 30% faster

Etc, etc

Generally the more violent the phrase the better the performance.

Long time since I heard "Golly that card is quick!" :D

They take the money out straight away.

3850 is more than double performance of 1950pro, it absolutely destroys it. :)

spot on mate:

those benches can't be right.

If they are then that means I'll not notice any difference going from my overclocked x1900 @ 750/860 (since it is WAY faster than a x1950 pro) to a 3850 512mb next week.

benches are correct and the difference is big in crysis making it playable if you stick it to medium/low settings. the proper thing to do is save your pennies up and get a 8800gt, for 140 quid you can;t get a better card than the 8800gt (going by todays date).

My mistake, i didn't think the 3850 was that crap, it's supposedly a renamed 2900pro, and the 3870 is the 2900 XT, but looking at those benchies, even the x1900 XT/X would be a lot faster than it.

Didn't actually expect you to mention anything.

Anyway i've already ordered my 3850 so I'll see how it clocks under water and if I'm not happy with the performance then I'll pick up something else. I've never had a 3d card longer than a few months (except my 7900GT, cracking card)

Also is that the 256mb or 512mb card benched?
