306 DTurbo and 306 DTurbo HDi ?

Phase 2 D-Turbo HDI's are just the trim level (so i'm told on pug306.net).

Most of which came with A/C and 1/2 leather (which is the car i'm currently searching for). So, for example in the range will be the LX HDi, D-Turbo HDi etc etc.

I'm after non-HDi, but with AC, they are there, but not for less than £1k, which is understandable, and annoying :p.

Anybody know anything about the water pump? Just that there is a cheapish one on the bay, and if it isn't too hard a job and will not have killed anything else then I'm tempted. Can trailer it home and work on it over my month off from Uni.

Ah, so your after a PH2 then?

After a Ph2, but will likely get a Ph1 as most Ph2s are out of my budget :(

Wasn't sure as to HDi or non when I made the thread, as I'd spotted a cheap HDi :)

Problem with Ph1s is that few have airbags and all the safety/comfort features I'd like. I know non PAS gives you lovely muscles, but I really can't be bothered with the work out. :p

Why not go for the Citroen equivalents if you want a phase 2 with airbags etc? They are considerably cheaper to buy and basically an identical car.

I noticed that too, 306 DT/HDi is GP5, where as Xsara HDi (if VTR) Coupe is GP9

Yup, and my 205 is group 7. The reason I'm changing from the 205 is insurance group and I'd like something more modern with space and safety. I love going fast and playing in my car, but I get worried in the 205, it's old and just generally dodgy.

If the Xsara was the same group or lower than the 306 then I would go for it, even if it is minging. :p

But they are ugly and higher on insurance. ;)

I wouldn't say the Xsara is ugly, though not as pretty as the 306.

Is the insurance differance significant? I'm 29 so it'll make much less differance to me. It seems to me the 306 is well overpriced, so i suppose you get screwed one way or another whatever you choose.

Well I haven't bothered to price up a Xsara as the 306 (on grp5) is about £100-£200 less than my 205 (on grp7), so I expect it to be a darnsite more.
