Imitation Samurai swords too be banned!!

Too say that the Gun ban being introduced to help prevent another 'Dunblane' was stupid and doesn't work is ridiculous when you look at the cold hard FACTS above!!

No as we aren't in France or Finland. We had strict licensing, which was not followed by the police. The guy should never of had a license. Then we have other laws like keeping guns locked up at a shooting range. Which would have also negated the problem. But no because of short sighted emotional public. They just banned it out right.

So how do you justify the ban on swords then, if that's your only (somewhat weak) argument for the ban on guns?

I actually think there's a strong similarity between the mentality of a shooter on the rampage, and a swordsman on the rampage. The difference comes in the death toll at the end.

when was there a sword rampage?

And why is killing 14 people at once, worse than 50 people over the course of a year?

massacres kill few in comparison to the constant killings that happen every few weeks, just the get more attention.

Because it's the only way too be sure and remove the problem of human error from the equation!! SOrry but a few people losing a 'hobby' is completely insignificant compared too the lose of human life, even just ONE human life imo (and the majority of the U.K who supported the ban)!

k so how about we ban cars those things kill 9 people every day.

Also by remove the element of human error are you recommending we kill all humans?

So what other non essential things shall we ban? what about sports. They arent essential. Far more people die from xtreme sports than legal guns. That includes spectators which aren't actually playing in the sport.

Humans die. 1 human life does not outweigh a large portion of the public. The sooner people realise how vulnerable our life's are and stop wrapping us in cotton wool the better.

Should we remove all kitchen knifes over 6" they aren't really needed?

A few years back in a church in London I beleive, a few people were fairly badly injured but the people in the church rushed him and managed to disarm him without anyone dieing!! THANK GOD he didn't have a gun as people WOULD HAVE DIED!!

So what your saying is a sword massacre killed a whooping 0 people, and so should be banned like guns for causing a dunblane massacre?

I think we should ban women having children.

Accoding to The Independant newspaper 10 babies died in the UK due to their mothers having bad post natal depression - who then went on to kill their children..... roughly the same number of nutter men who killed with swords.

I feel sorry for all the Knife / sword shops who will now go under due to this stupid ruling. Will the gov. bail them out like they did with the farmers, or the banks - I don't think so. What about the 2 - 300 people now no longer able to make a decent living selling swords and replicas ?

Holy crap now she wants to ban Rugby too.

And what would have stopped him using a 20" kitchen knife? which is perfectly legal.

but we arnt just talking about 'hobby's these are sports, both guns and swords. They even have events in the Olympics

**EDIT** Here you are:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/540387.stm

A naked man burst into St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in Thornton Heath,

I get the feeling he would have done this with a knife, and wouldn't have been approved for a gun license.

How the hell can Helen post while wrapped up in all that cotton wool she seems to be so insistent on sharing with us?

Talk about over reacting.

There will ALWAYS be murderers. Banning "display" swords won't make much difference, and will penalise the HUGE majority of people that use them just as that, DISPLAYS. If people want to kill they will find something else to do it with.

No I was making a point as some deluded people here seem to think a sword is more deadly than a gun  And use that absurd argument when arguing against the gun ban!!

The BBC report has clearly showed that the weapon in question has already killed AT LEAST 5 people and wounded over 80 in the space of about a year! Just one attack is too many for me as I value human life greatly!

more people than that died today because of cars should we ban them?

Thats 4 people less than the Police in Yorkshire killed on the roads last year.

What ban will sort out that problem ?
