Was I out of order?

I would personally be miffed if I had a gift that's already been opened, it's the knowing that somebody else had the item and used it already part, it takes away a lot of the personal 'this is for you' aspect from it. You and your girlfriend are both in the wrong; but it's not a big deal if the kid enjoys the game when he finally gets it.

The game is rated 16+ so he shouldn't be getting for christmas anyway

Keep it for yourself and get the wee fella viva pinata or something :)

My mate did that to me last year with a DVD... :-/

It's almost like saying, "Here, I'm done with it... you may as well have it"

Besides, you wouldn't give someone a condom for Xmas and use it first would you?

I hate games that are 'new' but have had the seal broken:mad:
You are a very bad person and i hope all you get for christmas is some coal!

I think people are being a bit harsh. It's a gift which in itself is nothing but altruism. So he tried it, does it change what it is? Would it matter if he'd bought it 2nd hand? His brother in law still gets Assassin's Creed, nothing's changed :)

PS. If anyone wants to buy a game for xmas I don't mind if you try it first!

Out of order - if I was 14 and noticed the wrapper missing I'd know something was amiss - and I'm sure most avid computer gamers/pc enthusiasts would be fuming if something that is meant to be new is actually not..

Personally I wouldnt have. I've got a couple of games as presents for Xmas sitting right next me, one of which I would really like myself, but I'm not going to open them. If I wanted to do that why wouldn't I just buy one for myself...?

I really doubt he'll even noticed the plastic wrapping missing. Its Christmas Day for goodness sake, he'll be too excited to even care if the plastic and seal are gone. Makes it quicker for him to get playing the game!

I can see why she got PO'd...but i can see why you did what you did.

IMHO, apologise, offer to pay £5 more to make it half (As you were a bit of a cheeky git there)

Then when she's not looking, arrange these words!

Alpha
The
Orbit
Nuke
Ovaries
Will

Job done :)

Given that a lot of retailers will open the game up, take the contents out of the box and put the box on the shelf i wouldn't be too worried.

Yes you were out of order, your gf will look a bit of a cheapskate buying 2nd hand crap now, especially if your 360 has had a little nibble (as they do).

Breaking the seal and playing this game was well wrong...........

Sounds more like you bought the game for yourself knowing your going be finished with it before christmas day..so you give it to her brother to save you having to spend money on a present for him...

Christmas is about the children and gifts (these days). Think about the children next time.

Also next time rent the game yourself if you really want to play it. It's a single player game, it is obvious you thought you would complete it for a tenner and then give it away.

The game is rated 16+ so he shouldn't be getting for christmas anyway
I doubt a man with low enough principles to open a kids christmas presents cares too much about the rights and wrongs of age classifications :D

She is obviously insane and a complete hypocrite if she is basically doing the same thing. I personally wouldn't do it cause my brothers would know since we use the same Live account :D. But she was out of order, not you.

The differance is that most games today come sealed and its nice opening a brand new game you wanted for christmas, i remember opening my gameboy colour for christmas and i could see my dad had taken the sticker off to play turok i was a bit dissapointed.

But as she is playing the CD you shouldnt be blamed :D.

Why? most places sell you the game unsealed these days anyway, all my games are like brand new no matter how long they have been played
