Was I out of order?

Besides, you wouldn't give someone a condom for Xmas and use it first would you?
That analogy doesn't work though.... someone using a 2nd hand rubber johnny is intrinsically deprived from using part of the product, e.g. the spermicidal lubricant will be missing, the shape of the prophylactic will be permanently affected, there will be a "deposit" left behind as a result of the contraceptive having been used (unless the first user is interrupted mid-flow or has some medical condition), etc...

Playing a games console, however, leaves the product in virtually the same state it was in prior to having been used. As he took care to not damage the sticker and assuming his 360 didn't eat the disc, then it's probable that the kid won't even be aware that he's using 2nd hand goods.

Just my 2 cents.

...but so was she, so he'd have to slap her back (which she knows, hence why she won't slap him).

Women.... ya can't trust 'em. "Do as I say, not as I do"

I wouldn't be too bothered if I got it and someone had played it if it was a game I wanted, otherwise I'd probably be a little ****** =/. Personally I'd never do that to a gift I intended to give to someone

Girlfriend and I buy Assassins Creed for her brother, I pay £10, she pays £20. It gets delivered to me at work.

I take it home, take the seal off and carefully remove the authenticity sticker, and start playing it (figure I will see what it's like and get some achievement points as well)

She had a propoer strop at me saying that it is 2nd hand now. Her brother is 14, he won't know/care that the plastic wrapper isn't on it. (I hate the wrapper, I would prefer a game WITHOUT it anyway, it takes too long to take off)

Would you have done the same? or have I been unfair here?

She just emailed me saying she hid the game, but I don't think she realises the disk is is my 360 still :p

Wait till you get a "real" girlfriend in a "real" relationship, then you will know argueing over whether a cellophane wrapper is on a game or not is not normal:p

In all truth mate....get rid! Imagine what she will be like when she finds out in years to come that you have been nailing her best mate;)

Cheers :)

I remember when i was a kid. My parents got me Earthworm Jim on the Megadrive for christmas. I managed to carefully open the wrapping paper and replace it with sonic 2 so it still had the weight. I was so bored come christmas day though as that was my main present ><. Never did it again :P

Why not go the hole hog and scan the covers and copy the disk and then sell the game back to the shop ya tight git :D

other words er no not the brightest of things to of done :)

But if your girl friend has done the same then she has no right to have a go at you for sure whats good for the goose is good for the ganda.

I wouldn't do that, it's a gift. The kid probably won't care but I wouldn't want it to have been opened and played.

I actually like everything of mine to be sealed and wrapped, but I'm a right funny sod about the littlest things.
I remember having a strop when Sony put Metal Gear Solid 2 in a clear DVD case instead of a blue case like all the other PS2 titles. I also had the same thing when an Xbox360 case was a darker shade of green rather than the bright green of all their others.

But like I say, I'm an odd sod.

Once it's covered in Winnie the Pooh wrapping paper it won't make an ounce of difference to him on Christmas morning.
The "I had to see if it works ok" approach is a tried and tested method that had been used throughout the ages :p

I have to be honest I would not open a sealed game and play it if it was a gift for someone else.

However the situation is pretty light hearted and made me smile :)

*snip*

hehe classic. You paid £10 so i supposed your entitled to a tiny play, even if was a gift ;)

Of course it's out of order to open someones elses present and use it... why do you even have to post a thread asking this...

The shop didn't give it to you openened, they gave it to you sealed. You opened it and used it, the very fact you bring the whole "I paid more for it than she did" argument into it speaks volumes. It's a matter of principle!

I suppose if he's petty and and has nothing else to do he'll be annoyed. Otherwise he'll just play the game and not be bothered about it not being sealed.

I personally wouldn't have played the game first, but if someone gave me a game for christmas that they'd tried first I'd still be getting the game so I wouldn't be bothered.:)

As long as you don't start telling him about the game, its all good!
