Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - Official Thread

Tried playing the other night, 3am, shouldn't have been too busy. Managed to go clean through on goal, ready to go into the box. Action skips to the other end of the pitch where the ball is in my own goal. That happened twice. Refuse to play online every again until I see another patch has been downloaded to make it better. At the moment it is absolutely embarrassing how an online game can be released in such a sorry state.

I guess they figured that most people would play it offline with friends, rather than online and so could just rush it out (to coincide with the release of the other versions) and fix it later.

Ive played "lagless" games where the game struggles to synch properly. I dont think its even a lag issue anymore i just think the net code is completely rubbish and cant synchronise the game properly. It really spoils the game because it means tackling become hit and miss and so does picking the ball up. The players kind of latch onto the line of the ball and if they latch on to the line they think its taking rather than the actual line its on, they end up just running past it. Its ridiculous, quite how they got it so wrong when its fine in PES6 is beyond me.
 
well consiering this can be had for £18 now, I bought it but only to play offline, played the demo of FiFa and it seemed to slow for me, will see how I get on.

FIFA is slow paced, too slow even, until you get used to it that is.

I now can't go back to playing Pro Evo 3 + 4, because in comparison they seem way too fast. Once I'm done with FIFA, I'll readjust to Pro Evo. Until then, it's a case of 'either, or' and I'm enjoying FIFA too much for the time being at least to go back to Pro Evo.
 
I think Fifa is slower like actual football, if you get a fast player on the ball then it's a quick game. Someone like Ronaldo, Kaka, Messi or Henry and the game flies.

PES2008 is fine in Single Player, it's totally different to online multiplayer, so if you're buying it for online I'd say to stay away, for offline I still believe Fifa 08 is better, but it's better than PES6.
 
Played a few games today between 2pm and 6pm. Managd to find a few match rooms with 3 bar connection. Ran ok. Not perfect obviously. But maybe its better at these times? I don't know. Any news yet on an online solution?
 
I really hate the keepers on this..other guy hit a long ball over and VDS stupidly ran out of the box and headered it..landed right to his player and he hit it in from long range! :( However I was losing 2-0 to another guy ranked 900 in the world and I put Nani on who scored a cracking header to get me back into the game, managed 2-2 draw in the end! Can be very tense at times! :D
 
I am loving and also hating this game so much.

I have been playing online for the last few days, and I am pleased to say that the lag is so much better, definitely playable now but still with the odd blip.

However, I seem to lose every friggin game I play.

On every other PES I have had probably double the amount of wins than I have losses, on this I have about 9 wins and 15 losses so far. I don't know what is happening. THe defenders are rubbish, it seems like the RB and LB are never around most of the time.

Also annoyed about the fact that people STILL play as Inter/Barca ALL THE BLOODY TIME.

Oh, and I scored a freekick on XBL and didn't get the achievement. Is this because the keeper got a hand to it before it went in?
 
Yes its definetly improved over the last few days scary sq. Not bad now, once the lag is totally gone im sure it will rival sensi soccer as the best arcade footie game around. For a quick blast, its a lot easier to get a game than that stupid EA sign in and downloading rosters every time, i wish they would ditch that.

That only happens on FIFA if you don't have Ronaldhino as your arena player. If you select him again then it connects instantly every time. Much quicker/more reliable than PES
