Tell me about the Toyota Celica....

Olly just has - a 330i would be a very similar price.

£2200 for an awesome car is worth it when insuring a complete rust bucket at that age would probably still cost you £1500.

And as for the 40% of the car's value comment... Where can I get a 330i Sport that cheap?! Please... do enlighten me.

Omg, is someone out to get me or something. You haven't read my posts when you just said you have:o

You're not 18-20! This does NOT apply to you.

You've obviously done something different to me, I can still get an almost identical quote. What makes you think they've made a mistake?

I haven't I even added an extra year plus NCB.

How was it identical when you don't know his postcode? You living in a dump could easily add 50% to the price.

You call an area with houses minimum 500k, low crime rate, quiet borough, far from any yobs.. a dump?

There is no way you can be sure the details you entered were not different just so you can prove a point, and just so you know....that is more than your policy.

Getting a friend or family member won't work or a screenshot because you know they side with mates even if they are wrong.

Well how can I prove that then? Of course it's going to be more, I took that policy out back in March, all like-for-like insurance has increased in price since then.

I'm not going to argue with you any more, this is a waste of time.

What are you smoking? I know Olly, I've seen his car, I've seen him, I've been driven by him in his car and I've seen his insurance documentation. It's all legitimate and not faked.

Well that price looks about right (2.4k) for an old high mileage 530 with high voluntary excess. Tbh that is not much, it cost me 1.8k in my first year for a 2.0 diesel.

I just can't see how a 330i can be insured for less than around 1.8-2k when you're 19/20. I did loads of research to find a decent deal and came up with nothing.

I am not arguing with you mate, theres just a difference in findings theres nothing wrong with that. Especially if it helps the other out, that is what a forum is about! :)

I didn't say they were fake.

Whats the first part of the postcode and we'll tell you whether, in insurance terms, its a dump.

Let me find an equavalent area, don't trust you that much :p

Would you like some Caviar with your snobbery, Sir?

I aint a snob, I dislike the assumption I am a tramp because I found something different to someone else.

Where do you come out with these gems?

Whether you try to insure a 10,000 mile 530i or a 999,999 mile 530i the quote will be identical!

An 'equivilent' area won't work becuase thats not how insurance works. You've no way of knowing what sort of area is equivilent in insurance terms. Have a look in the Motors sticky - there is a list of what rating each area is.

When do they ask you the mileage of your car? It could be a 40k example worth way more - it's just declared as 'market value (not exceeding £25,000)' on the documentation. It's not got a high voluntary excess either, the excess is £500.

You obviously didn't do your research right then, because my renewal next year (aged... 19) will be approx £1600. It's identical for a 330i or 330ci (I've checked).

You state you did "loads of research" yet you seem to fail to have a basic grasp of how the insurance rating process works - you do not even seem familiar with the type of questions they ask!

lets face it though Olly, your experience seems to be completely different to that of almost everybody else on here, pointless trying to argue, we've seen the facts.

I've checked for me (with my details) - 2 year license, 2 year ncb and it comes to £1,792.35 (5 series). Though for a 19 year old it may be far off as it depends on other factors.

Now I just did it for the 330i coupe and it won't insure, theres clearly a big difference between the two. Are you sure you checked for the 330?

I don't think I did the research wrong, I think it was down to the fact it was an 04 model with higher value. Just something to be aware of though, checking insurance before you check a car you like so you don't go off demotivated.

Would someone else like to try (that doesn't have a buddy to side with here :p)

lol, I put mileage in there sorry. Would you like me to show my documents too? Just so you know I have insurance! :p

With 95% of insurers, this makes no difference to the premium.

Well I just tried it with an 01 model 330i coupe as said and it won't insure the coupe but will insure the 5 series (530i) 01 model.

Someone else try?
