Tyre Dilemma

A few people have advised against mixing front and rears on the Z, so I'd be interested to see how you get on mixing tyres on yours. My rears will need replacing soon and I was going to replace them with the contis and then replace all 4 next time round with PS2s.

What is the general concensus on tyres on the Z4C, are PS2s considered the best? I'm getting rid of the stupid runflats and have no idea what tyres to go for.

Also, do the M3 and M3 CSL use the same size tyres on the standard 19" wheels?

Sorry to sort of hijack your thread Rotty :p

On the BMWLand form most seem go for PS2's

Nollaig Mhaith Chugat.

Try and haggle a deal on 4 PS2s - should be able to get a pair of fronts for the price of one, if not cheaper.

Could then flog the Toyos.

are you sure its the levelling motor and not the sensor adjusting it?
we had that problem with our car, new sensor was £60

the motor is trying to move it but something is stopping it, also the manual adjust doesn't work

I have had it apart tywice and can't it

by the time I have paid £175 for the new headlight and then Ebay'd the good ballast, ignitor and bulbs from mine it won't cost much

when I bought it it had PS2s on the back and contis on the front. this combi was better than the Toyos all round

Rotty, I would stick with PS2. I don't like to mix types front->rear, as different tyres have different characteristics (eg, slip angles), and mixing them can upset the handling. Also, the M3 handbook does specifically state not to mix types across front->rear axles.

thanks for the info :)

Yeah but not everyone can use Costco can they? their prices are very good on the tyres tho.

firstly the headlight I mentioned a couple of weeks ago is pointing too low due to the self levelling motor not working, managed to track a used one down for £175 so loads better than the £775 BMW wanted, will get that swapped soon

What are they made of, gold?

I needed a new levelling motor for my Focus, managed to pick up a set of 2 from a Ka for £6, delivered. Even a new one on the bay was only £25 quid.

founds PS2's better than the continental's fitted as standard to the M5. only other option in the sizes i needed, will be sticking with PS2's in the future. :)

no M3 uses 255/40 rear and 225/35 front, CSL 265/35 rear and 235/30 front

I think :)

Hi there

The CSL is 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear, I should know as just had PS2's fitted all round.

Previously it had Pirelli's all round, with 3mm left on front and 1mm on rear or there abouts.

Can't comment on the PS2's comparative wise yet as the release agent/silicone is still in the tyres but they come highly recommended as the best all round road tyre for the CSL.

Also I would not want to mix at all on an M3, as like Elliot says it could affect both handling and how the ABS/DSC works possibly.

you can usually fake some payslips etc, it's not hard to get in.

It's not just that you need to be in employment, but that you need to work for a company/organisation from a quite limited group.

IIRC stuff like civil service, banks, insurance, financial services etc.

I work for a consulting company and that didn't count so I was about to be turned away, but luckilly they did a check to find we were already listed on their "preferred employers" list so I go in.

I think we do have access to Costco cards through work, £25 iirc
