9600GT to be the first product of Geforce 9 series

Who cares if it's off topic, at least you're not arguing.

Before it was not bad arguing, in a way it was consturctive and it was not heading for a flame war, no insults were thrown or anything bad said, its been going along smoothly this thread for once I think and so it should be its christmas :D.

200 quid will still be a good price, after all 3870 XF is faster than GTX ain't it?

Again sorry for diverting from topic, last post.
Seems to be a little bit faster, not by large amounts though and really I've not seen anything more than 4xAA on benchmarks so I'd imagine at high resolutions with lots of AA, it's not going to be as good as 1x GTX.

True I suppose, it's just depressing when people show signs of wanting to rip eachothers throats out over whether Crysis is "badly optimised" or not. TBH these kind of issues should be solved at launch but they never are and it's an un-important issue anyway. If you don't like the game, don't buy it, it's not going to ruin your life.

Anyway, the high end 9-series are going to come in at a heavyweight price point. Looking forward to their release though, waiting as long as summer to see the GTX/Ultra's sucks though imo.

Hmm? I thought they were in Feb? With the lower stuff ie. 9600 in Jan?

Man you guys really have a paddy sometimes about nothing remotly argumentative.

Post: 9600 to be released in february
Response: Crysis runs like poop, cod4 is way better / no crysis is totally brilliant, cod4 gfx suck in comparison etc etc etc.

Sheesh.. I mean, talk about topic diversion!

I see this release of the mainstream card like this. Nvidia currently are doing fantastic in 8800 series sales, and they are getting some VERY lucrative prices for them at the moment. Why would they want to damage prices by releasing a better performing card whilst the prices are still high? Hence.. release the 9600 series until prices drop (regardless of what AMD are doing), then release the performance range later to prop up their profit margin. Releasing a high-end card anytime soon will affect the prices.

Here-endith 'diagnosis by Matthew' ;)

I had the strangest dream about a 9600 GTX card based on a core named G94 with 64 SPs and a 256-bit memory bus. The core clock was 700mhz, the memory clock was 1400Mhz (effective).

Why was it just a dream?

More to the point, why did I dream about graphics hardware?

Edit: looking at the specs on the VR-zone link my dream wasn't too far off the 9600 GT's specs. wtf?

wonder if a 9600gt will be like previous 7600gt and 8600gt cards as in it doesn't require the peg power connector and just run off power from the socket.
