PS3 from Santa is dead after 5 min

It started up fine,and i was doing the update.I came back 5 min later and the screen had gone off and its just flashing the red light now.

My launch day 360 is still going strong though:rolleyes:

Am i doing anything wrong or is it dead?

One red light!!!! Tight sods! At least with an Xbox360 you get 3!! :p

Seriously dude, I have no idea but if it's dead then that sucks. :(
 
Modern houses don't always have enough chimney space nowadays ;)

Just did a quick google and there was a suggested fix (don't know if it was verified to work or just a unique case) that if you take out the hard drive and put it in again in might work (instructions in the PS3 manual & youtube) alternatively could be a power failure issue and just send it back.
 
flashing red light usualy means overheating, but unless your running it inside the box it came in, im sure it cant be that after 5 mins.

Thanks,i've just tried it but no joy.Sometimes it stays on but its not sending a signal to the tv,and it won't power off.

Oh well,i'll have to play with my mums new DS lite.:)
 
I've already had it working.I started to do the update and thats when it died.I am only using the composite connection for now,and i havn't touched any settings apart from setting up the network.
