Will mean my 35mm film stuff is no more

I got a new tripod, Modo - Manfrotto, UV filter for my lens and two books. Langford's - Starting Photography and Collins Digital SLR handbook.

Great reads and full of information. I will have a proper look today as I was slightly drunk yesterday and couldnt read, or see for that matter.:p

I got a Lowepro (I think) Camera bag and a bag for the tripod too.

nothing "for Christmas", but recently i bought:
  • Olympus OM2-Sprogram
  • Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.4
  • Olympus Zuiko 28mm f/2.8
  • about 20 rolls of Various Ilford Film

all paid for by me, total cost is about 230 quid.
i've decided to treat my EOS400D to a canon 28mm f/1.8 from the states. its arriving sometime in january (around the 7th), guaranteed tax-free! (also paid for by me)

Some shexy realtree cammo trousers to go with my cammo jacket, and some gloves to keep my hands warm when out on shoots. Oh and I bought myself a D300. :D

I got a Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 :) Very happy with it so far.

Aod: What made you choose the canon 28mm f/1.8 over the Sigma 30mm f/1.4? I've been thinking about them both for use as a standard prime for my 350D but was leaning more towards the Sigma seeing as it is ~2/3 stop faster.

I've got one of those, you won't be disappointed with it. Great flash.

PS - Pics? Or did the booze get the better of you?

Booze? I wish :p

Put it on my nifty fifty.

the sigma 30mm is plagued by focusing problems, especially at distance. i've tried three of them and wasn't satisfied with their sharpness at f/1.4.
similarly, their focusing isn't as fast as the canon, even if they do have sigmas' HSM or whatever.

besides, the majority of my photos with the kitlens were taken at 28mm (by sheer coincicence) so i think i'll like the feel.

Also, the canon has an infra-red focusing index, and much nicer feel/build quality.
