Football *Spoilers* - 26th & 27th December

Nice to see Carvalho come out and apologise and acknowledge his poor challenge. Shame(Honest :) A Cole got sent off for the hand ball as well.

Top of the league and the squad is in good nick. I'll take that for now

Yeah, I thought that too.

Not sure how often that happens really, but you certainly don't hear about people apologising for stupid challenges.

Derby did very well today I thought, I don't think they'll survive, but they'll probably bounce back next season.

What's wrong with RvP? He came back a few games ago but now isn't even on the bench? Has he got a paper cut or something?

I know it sounds pessemistic but I just can't see us going top of the league again now, were going to drop points against these sort of teams. The sooner Eboue goes to ACON so we have to play 4-4-2 the better!

Top of the league at Christmas after a horrendous start to the season (Our worst ever IIRC), Scholes and our captain, Gary Neville, injured too. Not bad at all.

Robbie Keane scored his 100th Prem league goal today!

That's an astonishing 31 goals in his last 40 appearences... a stat rivalled by how many players in the whole of Europe I wonder? Funny he never gets mentioned in big money move gossip...

I'd say he's already had his fair share of big moves.

And I'd have to see how many of the individual games he scored in and what competitions they were before I call it astonishing. :p

I rate Keane quite highly, he was very highly thought of in his early days at wolves.

He didn't do that well playing for Inter when he moved to Italy, but got dropped when their new manager came in. But I think he only played 9 or 10 games - so he was hardly settled in to Italian football.

Which is perhaps why he isn't looked at or talked about by big European clubs?

He's 27 now, and is in (or at least very close to hitting) his prime really. If people are looking for future investments and trying to find the next big thing, it isn't Robbie Keane. If they want a proven Premiership goal scorer, then he should be looked at.

According to Wiki (correct as of December 3rd) his last 40 League games he has scored 19 goals.

is it fair to say that the best measure of when wenger is upset is when he starts criticising how the opposition who just beat him didn't turn up to play football?

To be fair most clubs are happy to come away from Fratton Park with a point. They should have beaten Man U & Liverpool this season yet only got a point. I think its a decent result for Arsenal even so they lost top spot.

I guess it's not the end of the world. Table just looks a bit worse at the moment :p

We always suck when we play Portsmouth though :p.

Personally i feel its a good result for us.

Portsmouth are an inform side and always hard to get a result away against.

Pompey have not won at home for the last 8 games, they were thrashed last week by liverpool, beaten the week before by spurs...........
In fact they have only won three in their last ten.
So no, they are an average side, and Arsenal were rubbish.

And for the record, they shouldnt of "beaten Man U" we were on top for most of the game, and were it not for dodgy refereeing of the highest order we would have come away with all three points and all our players still on the pitch.

Dodgy referring? As in Ronaldo getting sent off? No one questioned it..He deserved it.

And I remember Nugent missing an open goal at 1-1. You were lucky in the end even after the first half half display.

No he didnt, he didnt even make contact with the player.

I could go over every free kick and card in that match and tell you what was wrong with it.
It was a woefull display of refereeing.
