X Box 360 compared to PC Graphics

IMO IMO is good :D

Depends, the GTX is better at Higher Res with lots of AA/AF in most games (said the same in J.D's Thread), but its 1+year old tech now over the revised newer Tech 8800 GT or GTS 512

Can you wait 8 weeks or so on the totally new Cards ?.

Either way, your 8000 series or 9000 series will make your friend CRY as his Console has 2 Gen old GPU, it came out same time as the 7800GTX for PC, a 7900GTX is better than it.

for example, on crimbo day my nephew brought his new xbox up to mine, to let me try it out, using my ancient 20 inch crt tv (didnt look to good) so we tried it on my benq 24 inch monitor via hdmi, on the xbox, then on my pretty old pc i can run cod4 on max details 4xaa with ease, now crysis thats a different matter, idoubt if the nsa's number crunchers could run that pos

Dont forget the Xbox 360 is over 2 years old now... Times change (very quickly in the technology world, I mean look 10 years ago, compared to now!) but build me a gaming PC for £180 that can keep up with a 360 and I'll bake you a cookie :)

I think the 360 still looks stunning.

360 fairly good IMO good online community, always issues with online lag.

Ps3 seems fairly good but not a patch on 360 with online but better IMO graphically.

PC fantastic for online community and graphics, But is a constant wallet/purse stretcher to keep up with the new and improved components! If you do not keep up with the new parts before you know it there is a newer and faster version of everything come out.

360= £280ish
ps3= £280ish
PC= £500+ £400 in 6 months then £400 6months later etc etc
I know some components for a pc will run forever and they are fairly good when you get them, But then a game like crysis comes out and challenges your system to the max and you still only get 10 fps.

I have all 3 and still prefer pc gaming but I do not have a disposable income! . When new games come out i mainly go fps on pc. All other games i want i buy for either the 360 or ps3 depending which console it's out on and what console my mates are buying it on.

At least with console gaming every1 is on a level playing field. No one is just getting that extra few frames per second.

i understand what you mean, but a console is a one trick pony, the different things you can use a pc for makes it a more attractive all round package nowadays even the big mainstream retail outlets are able to sell q6600 based rigs with 7900 cards and above for a good price

Console and PC hardware can't be compared IMO
Step #1: Take a multiplatform game, i.e. Oblivion.

Step #2: Play the games in the same resolution (1280x720).

Step #3: Compare the image quality of both titles and play "spot the AA/AF".

Step #4: Compare the smoothness of each without fraps etc. running.

I do it all the time, it's not difficult.

1 more thing that really puts me of console gaming, lack of dedicated servers when your used to a minimum of 32 in a game, or in my case 100 in joint ops (i know its an oldy) but 16 in a game just isnt the same

Matchmaking sucks too, why I can't just choose from a list of servers is beyond me, as is the interval countdown in CoD4, there doesn't seem any reason for it, you just have to sit there like a lemon between games.

I agree, was hardcore online PC gamer... then turned Xbox lover :eek: (playing offine games) deceied to go gold and get LIVE to see what all the chat was about LIVE being awesome and its bull****. Incomparable to PC gaming online.

i disagree with that pricing comparison. games for consoles are much more than pc games. 10 console games would cost you £400 minimum if you got them new, pc games are usually on the £30 mark.

also to get the most of a console set up most would buy some sort of HD tv/monitor. even a basic one would be £300.

you can build a PC for £300- monitor that will own a 360. It will last for a couple of years at least. More like 3 if you are happy to play at medium/low settings.

PCs really are not that expensive if you buy budget components + obviously games are cheaper it is just us geeks upgrade when it isn't required.

Who cares about everyone being on a " Level Playing Field ", if someone buys better/faster/more expensive hardware they get more FPS simple as that and they should, the 30FPS on the 360 is not ideal IMO.

The console games are very expensive over PC games, the 360 cant even handle normal ambient heat in normal Room Temps (Red Ring Of death).

Even the new revised Falcon isn't meant to be that great at cooling either. Also me and my m8 done a comparison with games like Timeshift, Pro Evolution 2008, Bioshock and a few other titles and it's just not comparable in speed, in vibrancy (Timeshift) and clarity. The Xbox360 tech is dated for us in the PC loop and for anyone who has played with a mouse and would still happily play FPS games with a pad should be dragged out in the street and shot.

To be fair with a decent PC you want a decent monitor. To say you need a decent TV for a console isn't fair to add into the comparison. On top of a £400+ base computer you're looking at another £250+ for a decent 24" LCD. Then there's all the other crap like keyboards and mice which some people like to spend another £50 odd on (why?!). It can also up upwards of £50 for an operating system. That's a good £350 without the PC.

Do you want to play a 360 or a PS3 on a non HD CRT or LCD TV @ less than 800x600 RES ? :confused:

IMO a HDTV is a near must have.

not really. £150-£170 will get you a new 22" widescreen monitor. you can use any keyboard and mouse, even the basic microsoft stuff is fine for gaming, that would cost about £10 max? and usually people just use a HDD that they have had for a long time to boot from. If not it doesnt cost much to buy a HDD from auction with an OS already on it for ~£30.

Do it right here right now. A full tower that will "own" the 360 for £300 ;)

EDIT: and three years back I was paying £200 odd quid for an anthon 64 cpu alone.. lets not go into ram, gpu ect! So a PC built 3 years ago for £300 would not play games of today decently /get real:rolleyes:

You could nearly, some of the guys in the " Spec Me " threads surprise me (as you said tower only).

The cash you save buying a 360 will be gone on a few games, where as the PC games cost less or even free. (take adverts in FarCry etc or by another method ;) )
