My pc wont let me overclock :(

I've got a problem overclocking, my pc wont let me do it :s
When i go into the bios and attempt to change the fsb or voltage or most cpu related options it simply wont let me i cant get it open them so i could change them by even 1hz
i know its nothing to do with the system cause ive probably got one of the most popular setups
Q6600 @ 2.4ghz w/ TRU 120 Extreme Scythe Flex 1600 rpm fan
ASUS P5E X38 Motherboard
Patriot Extreme 1066 2gb
Ati HD 3870 512mb
OCZ Modxstream 720 Watt
Antec 900

Anyone have any ideas
Oh and i have Asus Suite Installed i've thought that my be the problem but want to be sure as i cant find the disk to reinstall it lol

Have you set the AI Overclock Tuner option to Manual?

Or cleared the CMOS?

the ai overlock tuner is on manual yea
wouldn't know how to clear the cmos :s

Remove the power lead and pop the motherboard battery for 5 minutes.

You'll probably need to re-set the clock when you get back into the BIOS.

look on the motherboard for a silver circle that looks like an enlarged hearing aid battery

For the love of god find out how to clear CMOS before doing anything :eek:

Most probably a little jumper somewhere near the battery

It's a little switch on the P5E boards. You can see the battery just below the top PCI-E slot, so if you follow that to the right a bit you can see the switch - it's just to the top-left of the southbridge heatsink:

Well, it's a very thin battery and it is very commonly used in watch type devices - all Polar Heart Rate Monitors use that battery for instance.

flick the switch, leave it for a few seconds then switch it back

please read your motherboard manual in detail before fudging around with it! it will help, it WILL tell you how to clear the CMOS and it WILL tell you how to overclock!

Your PC was trying to protect itself from you
