eta on 3870 x2?

You're one of the unlucky ones who came from a 2900XT to find that you get worse performance, I havent a clue why you get worse performance, all I know is my 8800GT is blowing my 2900XT away.

That's the thing Willhub - in games that work, the 8800GT blows my 2900XT away. WoW for example, I was getting 40-50fps at 1600x1200 0xAA 16xAF before, and a solid 60fps at 1600x1200 8xAA 16xAF now. Top notch performance. :)

I just miss being able to play Dungeon Keeper and the like! :(

Also, in response to the fact that my card might be clocked wrong, does the following look okay? It's a stock clocked Inno3D.

As if the 2900 was a plain sail without issue and crap drivers. ;)

I don't think I had a -single- driver problem with my 2900XT. :)

Mighty set of lungs on that GT as the 2900Pro is heavier than the GTX (or it feels it to me 3pipe version) :D.

On performance that 90%+ were getting from the GT to a Pro you are right. It's just as strange as your dodgy 2900 results though. I'm sure you were planted by Nvidia to destroy ATI's community spirit!!. Maybe Tute is AMD's answer to the your green sided ways Will :p.

Look at your Cards box for exact specs not a Stores Details incase wrong.

EDIT, I misread, its only all the GTS Range. SORRY.

Haha maybe, you never knew if I put a 2900XT in my rig now it might work :P its been a while.

Lol send the 2900Pro and I will test it :D haha.

I'm using an 8800GT in my sig, have you upgraded to an 8800GTX for good now?

"Get's the big catapult ready" :D. Yes I got all the stuff on Friday but as I've been hit with the flu I've only tried one game WiC.

I was going to wait until after the year to buy this all as I was going to wait for Wolfdale but I got bored as I was housebound with the flu so I just bought early with the E2180 instead and OC'd it. Now I'm already tempted by this new X2 AMD dual GPU but if it's not much of an improvement over my GTX then I will stick with what I have got. I still have 6 days left to send it back.

It's just after buying the 2900Pro the 8800GT came out 3 weeks later and I don't want to be left in the same boat again and already the crossfired HD cards are showing some promising results against the GTX with AA enabled and I have the PSU to run both so............. (pulls hair out screaming "I done my best, I done my best" :D).

I thought you were on the X1900XT as I seen a few posts by you on a faulty card. At least you've still got a kick ass card that will sell well and help towards the new AMD card if you decide to go that route as I've seen you mention. If you decide to keep the GT then you will still have a great performing card. Not much to lose but loads to gain.

X1900XT was faulty, got £17 for it on the bay, no doubt the guy was laughing.

I think i will wait for the 9800 GTX
same here.

unless i see a single card solution that's about 1.5x or more powerful than 8800GTX i won't upgrade!

i just don't trust those x2 cards, it relays too much on drivers (ATI or nVidia, neither is ahead of eachother), i'd rather have an 8800 Ultra OCed with enough housepower to process most games.
eg. just look at 7950Gx2 vs 8800GTX

How do you know it'll rely on drivers? No one knows what it'll be yet

it's 2x GPU on one single PCB, so communication between them is either done in BIOS or drivers. so software part of the card is more critical than hardware.

whereas in 8800GTX or other super single card, it's the hardware's power that's more important.
