OK, I just paused it. I have Benezia down. I have no shields but full life. Liara is dead, Ashley has no shields and bugger all life. The guards are just about to come in the room. What do I do?

Unity to get Liara up (will be useless with no skills)
Boost mine and ashleys shields then heal
heal then boost our shields?
Run away to another area to try and recharge butrisk being killed while running?

EDIT: I died. WHAT A ******* SURPRISE

Right, firstly Benizia calls in various commando's and geths @ 1,2,3. Clear these bits firstly in the order of 1,2,3. Never cross Benizia's front entrance or your squaddies might charge in. Once you clear out position 2, go there for a breather because Benizia can't see you at 2 & 3.

Once her health is low, she then calls in a final set of guards again. This is where things can get hairy. Remove all the guards first. I think some of the guards may be snipers, I was one shot killed last night a few times, and noticed a red aiming laser lining up a shot just before I died. If you see that laser take cover fast or you'll either be one shot killed or heavily injured. Work your way around once again.

Use your sniper ability to take out the geth troopers, and use Liara's Lift & Warp ability - Make sure you target the enemy so that a red triangle is over him/her, then click A. Lift is great because it allows you to fire at the enemy without them being able to react.

If you see some grouped enemies in a corner, quickly run forward, tap that right shoulder button and stick a singularity smack in between them. Once they're all flying about in the air, throw in a few grenades and open fire on them like hell.

With all the guards removed, the cut scene pops up and then she makes a final last gasp attack. This shouldn't be a problem. Use Liara's lift to get Benezia in the air and just open fire with Overkill if you want.

Edit: Just noticed that you did it :D Do you know how long it took me to draw that on word!! :p

haha, sorry dude. Thanks for doing that though, I am sure it will help someone else.

Thanks for telling me not to give up. When I read that I was driving back from Peak 15 but that made me decide to try it a couple more times :)

btw, it was the bit after the cut scene I was stuck on :)
I used Throw, then an Assassination sniper shot, then shotgunned her before she could recharge shields. I then ran away. Killed one guard with a nade and some shot gun blasts. Killed the second gaurd by blowing up the explosives as she run past them, and the third guard by just shooting her :)
 
Remember you can save the game just before a major encounter. If the Save option is greyed out, just remember that you can save as long as everyone is out of combat mode. So holster your gun, which should force your squad to do the same and then save. You can do this just outside the entrance to the large Benezia room.

If your squad still won't holster their weaps, move back a bit and try again.

Which bit is that? I chose Kaiden over Ashley when the nuke goes off so she's gone now.

Also suprised to hear that biotic characters can be good as I've not enjoyed using biotics much, throw and lift don't compare very well to force lightening ;) I'm using Wrex and Garrus at the moment.

It took 3 play throughs to reach Lv60 and get the majority of the achievements.
I then made a Biotic to get the biotic achievements (singularity, throw etc) which took a single play through.
Lastly I made an engineer to get the engi achievements (neural shock, ai hacking etc)

I have to admit Biotic's are uber. I thought Soldiers would rule all, but my Lv45 Biotic would run rings around my Lv60 soldier.

i think the ally achievements bugged for me :( i completed the whole game with Wrex and Tali (every mission near on) and they didnt unlock :(

did manage to get it on with Ashley mind :p
 
The ally achievements are probably one of the biggest complaints if you look on the official forums.

To be sure you get them you must have used the character practically from the start (so if you want the achievement for Liara you must grab her first before doing ANY quests) and do pretty much every side quest there is. So if you don't get the completionist achievement, you won't get any ally ones.

Firstly, stick to the chosen two crew mates who you need the achievements for. Well it goes without saying.

Focus on doing almost every side mission you can get. Forget about the main missions for now. Learn where all the missions can be obtained (Citadel, UNC, NPC's) and complete them with your chosen two crew mates.

Break up the repetitive side missions by doing the main missions. At some point you'll be forced to return to the Citadel, where Ambassador Udina sells you out and the Normandy is commandeered. This is your final chance to clean up on all your citadel missions - you will be given an additional 2-3 missions at this stage:

* A drug addict will be hanging around outside Flux
* A member of some anti-alien party will be just outside the stairs that lead up to flux
* Lastly you may find an additional npc outside flux who has been chucked out for cheating who you can assist.

Basically do as many side missions as you can, yes most are dull and boring but it's the only way. I got my last two ally achievements with Garrus and Liara when I was on the last mission in Ilos and they took the longest because these two chars aren't with you from the outset. Obviously Ashley and Kaiden are easiest to get the achievements with since they're with you right at the start of the game. For the other characters (Liara especially) make sure you do her main storyline mission first and then proceed to do every mission with her typically.

Edit: You can get away with doing the lame planetary missions, where you have to search/collect turian insignia's, war medals etc that you find on darelict crashed probes etc.

I finished the game 3 times with the same chars and didn't get any achievements. Turned out I wasn't doing enough of the side missions^

Thanks mate - I was reading on another site that you need to do 15 missions with the ally and 45 assignments - is this true? Ive done all possible on the citadel, and Ive done most - bar two or three assignments on other planets but don't have the achievement yet, and I just finished virmire minutes ago so I guess I will go and do those three at the citadel. Thanks for the help, I guess I will keep trying :)
 
No idea about the exact number or missions you have to do with your chosen to squaddies, but it is a lot I reckon. Most my ally achievements were obtained in the latter stages of the game where Udina sells you out. The last 3 citadel missions got me the achievements.

The Liara & Garrus achievements appeared halfway through the final fight in Ilos.

Thanks mate -one last question :D Will I get the achievement for playing "the majority of the game" when I get these ones? Makes sense don't it? :p
 
I did the rescue Liari and then Novaria before I bothered starting talking to Ashley to try it on with her. Does this mean I can't do it now without playing through again?

Yup, you should get that pretty easily tbh. I got it on my first run through the game.

I'm not sure. The whole romance progression side of things is odd. My last char was a female engineer, and she was approached by both Liara and Kaiden and asked to choose! I was like 'wtf is going on here?', because I'd never seen that before.
