I am Legend

I saw this last night... and I'm pleased to say it was a very watchable and enjoyable film, providing you weren't out to be critical of it.

The end was pretty dire, as noted above.

One of the worst pieces of poo I've ever had the mis-fortune to watch at the cinema. I've even asked the usher at the door for refund to which he just laughed.

Even the Mrs hated and she normally just sits there drooling when he's on the screen. It was poorly scripted, badly realised and built up to such an anti-climax its shocking. Have to say they also should've got more than a PIII PC to do the special effects next time as well.

I thought it was pretty good - although I had no build-up to it.....I only went because the wife's parents were going and asked us to tag along. Sure, there are some plot holes here and there.....no biggy. The acting was great and I thought it was hugely atmospheric. And I have to say, The Omega Man is one the most hysterically bad movies I've ever seen - at least this one is a more respectable rendition of the story :)

BTW, that was a pretty amazing hand grenade he had at the end - went off like 50lbs of C4 :D

Yeah, and lucky it didn't also burn up all the oxygen in that room and thus suffocate to two hiding in the alcove anyway.

well i thought it was pretty good. would have liked to see a bit more about the vampires being intelligent as i think that would have made the movie more complete.

glad to see a movie where the hero doesn't magically survive at the end, although as mentioned maybe if he had let them eat him then they'd have become human then he really would be "Legend".

reminds me a little of the stephen king book "cell", but i would very much like to read the book this film is based on.

i think the reason he blew them up was to slow them down so that the women could escape. They would have eaten him but no become human straight away.

I liked the film. Funny when hes talking to the manikins. Ending sucks, would have been better if he set up a trap full of the cure and let the vampire/weird people go for it.

I think the main reason i like it was the dog. :p

Id be surprised they would have be cured by ingesting his flesh since its very likely that the active ingredient would be denatured before being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Since he was giving it intravenously to the test subject I guess to be effective it needed to be delivered in the same method without making changes to the cure itself to allow it to be orally effective...

ps3ud0

Exactly, simply eating him wouldn't cure them.

The fact he made the cure rightly makes him a legend imo.

In a way yes, but the idea of legend is so totally different to what it should've been it makes me sad even thinking about how it could've been.

Very, very average. I walked away from this one feeling pretty much nothing. That's generally a sign that it wasn't a great movie in my eyes.

It just didn't have any depth to it whatsoever, which is a shame given the potential of the storyline. It just felt majorly dumbed down to a Hollywood audience.

This is OK I guess, it does make for a moderately entertaining flick, and some of the set-pieces and humour were definitely entertaining.

From the moment the woman was in the film it basically went down hill. Rubbish, rubbish character. And when they made the most obvious "science vs religion" reference I felt like sighing.

And yes, the ending is so unbelievably "oh right". I can't believe how much it screamed of "how do we end this?". I'm still not convinced by the blowing himself up bit either. Being overly critical tbh, but how would that have definitely killed everything? And it would have always been dark in there?

6/10

Watchable, but frustrating in too many ways.

Another film you guys should check out if you like Will Smith is...

Pursuit of happyness

He really is one hell of an actor

Saw it yesterday.

As a film in it's own right, I enjoyed it a hell of a lot, as an addaption of the book, I was sorely disappointed, the ending to the book was far more moving and less hollywood style.

one to watch for a directors cut? they might do an alien3 with it and totally transform the film. hopefully.

Theres an idea.

I saw it tonight and can't help but think what a dissapointment it was. Between the plot holes, dodgy CGI, unexplored sub-plots, and the abrupt pacing change leading to the disapointing end; I wouldn't recommend this movie. A real shame because I thought Smith was brilliant.

I watched this the other night and actually enjoyed it a lot, thought the atmosphere was good but would have like to have seen a longer edit (more detail in the flash backs/more info in the extra characters) . Pretty much all of the scenes could have been expanded on without making it boring. A 2hr+ film would have been great

Well i thought it was terrible...

I havent read the book, but oh dear, perhaps they should have spent the what was obviously a massive marketing budget on cgi ? The plot and idea had so much potential and was doing ok up untill that stupid stupid women appearing, i feel sorry for will really, great actor no dought, but if he wasnt in the film it really would have nothing going for it.
