January Transfer Window

just theoretical really, stops any speculation on player prices and obviously you have to see if any deals go through, seemed easier to just give you a set amount. i figured you'll get some cash from the yanks and just set an arbitary price of around what Masch would cost you. it was more of a 'would you go back to relying on a few less numbers in your already very strong central midfield in order to get a winger/forward in.'

I can't see them giving you £30mill or anything like that but i reckon you could get £15-£20 but i'm thinking that wouldn't be on top of mascherano. don't know who your big money sales would be really? Crouch for £8-£10mill i suppose if Money bags Man City were interested, this season hasn't raised his value much unfortunately though.

I very much doubt the Yanks will give us more than £6-10m and then the rest will come from sales if Rafa decides to sell anybody. Carson to Villa is all but signed for around £10m and is just a case of whether its done in January or they wait till the summer, i'd be suprised if we let Crouch go for less than £10m especially as there is seemingly quite a long list of interested clubs (Villa, City, Pompey and Newcastle have all been linked) and then the likes of Sissoko and Riise (who knows what they'll fetch after the way they've been playing this season).

apprently chelsea have signed anelka and ivanovic (russian defender) and bridge is on his way possibly to liverpool

Not overly keen on Bridge, i don't see him to be any better than Aurelio but saying that Aurelio can't stay fit for more than 4-5 games. If it does happen then that more or less confirms the rumours about Riise going for a similar fee (£5-7m) to either Villa or Valencia.

Which is interesting, because i cant see us doing business with Valencia without sorting out some sort of deal for Villa, Albelda, Silva or even Joaquin

Don't get your hopes up for any deal for any of those in January. Can't see anything happening for Joaquin ever though, Rafa supposidly doesn't rate him at all and turned down the chance to sign him before he joined Valencia. Not sure why we'd be after Albeda either, we've got more than enough cm's and he's getting old.

As for the other 2; I wouldn't mind Silva at all, i really like him and he's very versatile (can play anywhere across the front). Not sure about Villa though, undoubtedly a great player but im not convinced he'll like it over here, don't think he's either got the blistering pace or strength/power to cope with the physical side of the game (don't think he'd like to give it a try either).

Read somewhere, can't remember that it was quoted form Rafa that he is not selling any players in January and only looking to buy. Saying taht if players want to leave they can be professional and wait until the end of the season.

Hope that isn't the case as deadwood needs to be moved so we can get a decent set of players in the dressin room

Rafa said in a press conference when asked about selling Crouch that he doesn't want to sell but even if he did plan on selling players he'd say that to push the price up. Other than Carson i can't see much more than Riise going in January though and thats only if the Bridge rumours are true.

I wouldn't mind either tbh, both excellent players.

Not to sure about Bridge. I rate him quite highly as he always plays well for Chelsea when he's called upon. But the fact that he's potentially there 3rd choice LB is a little off putting.

Bridge would be an excellent signing for Liverpool. Very underrated left-back, excellent crosser, solid worker, tough in a tackle and gets a few assists.

My only concern over signing Bridge is that Aurelio does all the above too (imo a better crosser) and the money could be spent better on a cb (which im sure we'll sign anyway) or a winger.

Chelsea have agreed an £8.5m deal with Lokomotiv Moscow for Serbia international defender Branislav Ivanovic. (various)

Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka is also set to move to Stamford Bridge for a £10m fee. (various)

And Blues manager Avram Grant is considering making it a triple swoop by offering £26m for Tottenham forward Dimitar Berbatov. (various)

Yet Chelsea are not finished there - they are also set to make a double swoop for Sevilla defender Daniel Alves and Valencia striker David Villa, at a cost of £45m. (Mirror)

Lol £90m gotta love this time of year, oh this made me chuckle as well
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is lining up a £45m bid for Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo. (Telegraph)

Ronaldo has made up his mind up to join Real and his agent has agreed a deal in principle with the club. (Express)

People get paid to write this poop. :p

Some dude who "has contacts" on redcafe seems to think Berbatov will be coming for United for 30m. With Brown going the other way.

Price sounds about what Spurs would accept for him. Didn't Man United have a £19M bid turned down in the summer?

I reckon he would do a good job for them tbh, offers something different.

Fergie will probably bring the best out of him too.

FAAAAAAAAAR too much money in my opinion! I cant see the logic of spending that much of a transfer budget on a striker who arguably wouldnt be first choice
