my drumkit is perfectly fine but ive got it into my head that i want all new dw hardware simply for the gyro-lock system! damn it.

ive priced my stuff together and its gonna cost me 400 quid at least just for cymbal stands, then a snare stand grrr!

pedals and hi-hat stand are fine, and now i even want a new snare grr!

it costs so much for drum gear :(

It costs so much for DW gear.

My drummer has just taken delivery of the best sounding snare drum I've heard.
Apparently its based on John Bonhams snare and it would cost the best part of a £1000 to buy if it had got a 'name' on it.
A local guy has just made him one to the exact same spec for £250 and it sounds awesome.
 
yeh ive just been and got some awesome deals on some beautiful heavy duty pearl hardware with tilting-giro technology. and cymbal locks woop.

only two stands but cost me 120 should have been close to 200.

snare drum i'm gonna look at next week, hopefully!

You'll have to give me time on this.
He is a guy who turns up at our gigs and I don't think our drummer has a contact number.
One night he bought his snare drum and as soon as it was put on it sounded real.
Our drummer asked about it and ordered one.
 
I love my Pearl ICON rack, adding on cymbal stands is OK as you can find the CH-1000 one's from pearl (infinite adjustable ones) for about £20. Although all the clamps etc add up!
 
I use Tama hardware, just because it goes with my kit and because it's durable and good quality. Can smack any drum/cymbal and be assured the hardware won't tipple over.
You're paying for a quality product at the end of the day and it'll be worth it.

all my hardware is pearl and i never by cheap gear. its all really heavy duty. my kit is solid as a rock, it has to be. my kit is a gretsch renown maple, 8' , 10', 12', 14, 22 with pearl B-1000 stands, all floating toms, only Sabian or Zildjian cymbals too, and Tama Iron Cobra Pedals :)

going to look at some black panther snares tomorrow hopefully!

I envy you so much, would love one of those snares if I had the money. Have tried them out on numerous occasions, each time I love it more.

Best bet is the obvious - try em all out. Don't be afraid to tune them in the shop too - staff shouldn't mind.
 
I've found that with DW hardware you don't get much better build quality, especially the snare stands, it just costs a fortune.
I used to have a Pearl Icon rack with pearl tops a long time ago, moving across to DW hardware when my DW exotic arrives from california sometime in March ;)
 
One of my old band's old drummers had a DW5000 series kick pedal (double one) the footplate snapped in half midway through a set. it wasn't that old either, only about 6 months.

My powershifter's still going strong after about 8 years :)
 
Never owned DW pedals, always used iron cobras and before that powershifters, the DWs felt a bit clumsy for me compared to most others.

I bought one of those once, couldn't get used to it so sold it for a pearl powershifter. Still got it 10 years later :D

Pearl stuff is the best imo, all my stands are rock solid and have never had one fail on me yet.
 
I love the fact they have the square rack tubes, which don't let the clamps rotate.
Mind you, I had a bit of bother when I bought my DTXTreme IIs and they couldn't supply a yamaha rack with it on time, so the shop I bought it from sent me out a gibraltar rack as a temporary measure and that had round tubes/clamps - seemed pretty solidly built, but then again it wasn't holding all that much weight I guess.

Wouldn't ever buy anything than double-braced stands these days, unless I had to.

I know what you mean, I used to have a DW7000 double pedal and it always felt a bit "clumsy". I'm now using Iron Cobras, love them :)
