ok so im not a pro pc builder, but i bought myself a new
asus maximus formular mobo and quad core processor

spent few hours putting together and go to fire it up and nothing, lcd poster says cpu innit,
the mobo lights up but it just wont start

omg i really dont know what to do
anyone help plz thanks

Is your power supply big enough? Double check all your connections. Make sure the ATX 24 pin and 4/8 pin connectors are in properly along with the graphics card power plug if needed. What memory is in it? The Asus P5E, which is the same board as the Maximus with a couple of bits missing is a very picky board when it come to ram.

It would be easier if you post your full spec.

its rare but maybe the power switch on your case is broken, its happened to me more then once where the mobo led is on but cant start pc, when you do press the on button does it respond at all??? if no then its broken, if it go 'on' then staight off again its a system problem... also try pressing and holding the on switch, also try turning mains on/off leaving about a 5 second delay then retry

my ram is crucial mixture of 2x512 and 2x 1gb

there 128x64 ddr2 240,667 cl5
manual say mobo not support moduels made up of 128mb chip,is that my problem??

my setup is maximus board
intel core 2 quad (GO)
BFG 8800GTX
3 GB ram
viper 580
antec p182 case new

not a thing happens when i hit the poer button, all i have is some led lit up on board
thanks

1 stick no boot,,tryed my old case wired it up to mobo still no boot

if ram is no good would that make the board not fire up,,or would it still fire up but just go to error screen or summit,,damn i wanted to play crysis tonight :(

Yeah if it doesn't like the memory it will refuse to boot.

But I'm surprised that as ASUS board can't take standard PC5300 Crucial memory.

iv never tryed this but considering your pc wont even turn on, i need to ask first is it safe to switch on a pc with no RAM sticks in, if someone answers yes then try this, if your pc switchs on with 0 ram you can then comfirm the ram IS the problem :) easy

It's fine to start it up with no memory, but the result will be the same as it is with incompatible memory.

well no ram =no boot,
i think i gonna have to go crucial web site stick in the mobo and see the compatible ram
and buy a gig stick just to see if this thing boots up,its gotTA BE THE RAM the ata power connection are all in propally
the only 1 hdd and 1 cd/dvd burner all connected propperly
the pwr/reset/hdd light ect all connected in that Q connect thing(is nice)
the processor is brand new seated properly

the lcd poster is lit with cpu innit all time
theres power going through the board so its not the power supply because things on mobo lite up even the tourch in the case
gfx card has the 2x power connections connected
other then the ram i haqve no idea :( :(

edit::also wth is asus website www.asus.com or .co.uk has nothing???

hold on.. have i missed something.. what wont the pc do, 'boot' or 'switch on' cuz these are different things, get what i mean???

Hi, hsf mounted correctly, cpu fan connected? Have you tried the motherboard out of the case resting on a piece of cardboard?
Chris

firstly, what is an 'LCD poster' i think i maybe lagging a bit with my tech knowledge here
the text iv put in bold says to me its the powerswitch
:)

the lcd poster is this little gadget plugs into mobo and on boot sequnce run through if any problems u look at poster and it tell u whats up..suppose to anyway....

BUT........this is weird on the mobo there is a reset and stanby button,,also on back of case there is a clr cmos button,,i press them all hit the power button and cpu fan started spinning for a second then stopped?????

Having the fans spin for a second after clearing the CMOS is normal in this situation.

im currently waiting for rep on cruicial .com to confirm wether incmpatible ram will cause a non boot sistuation,,im also taken it all out the case<cry>

get it on a bench see what going on....

escuse the bad typos this keyboard on laptop is terrible
