CTC does anyone know how much you get for 3 kids?

... I'm one of the many that's funding this system.

Thanks :D

My only hope is that by some major stroke of luck someone gets into power that has the common sense to stop all these benefits, then as the years pass those that can't afford to breed end up starving to death and the human gene pool improves to the extent that tax is a thing of the past and people are happy to pay for the services they receive/need.

As a father of four, child benefit has been enormously helpful over the years. During lean times, it has been saved up in a joint account and paid for holidays and Christmas.

P.S. Not a scrounge, I have not been out of a job since leaving college 20 years ago.

Eh? So you need to claim child benefits and then you go on holiday with it?

I don't mind support for those people that are working, it's the bottomless pit for those that happily sit at home for years on end and never do a stitch of work.

Like my ex who hasn't worked a day since she popped her first sprog 19 years ago.

If you can't afford to pay for them without state handouts don't have them.

/tongue firmly in cheek

Tax credits aren't a state handout. Well, they are in the way that this inept government has implemented them, but they are supposed to be an additional tax free allowance.

But if you can't afford to pay for Christmas and Holidays on your current earnings why have four kids? I have one child at the moment but I don't feel I could provide for four children (not just living costs but uni etc when older if the case), hence I don't have any more. Why do people keep having kids thinking that someonr else will pay when needed.

I'd like a Lamborghini but can't afford one, but would never expect someone else to cough up. Why should this be any different for kids?

EDIT: Apologies I read that as CTC not benefit, child benefit is the saving system we all pay into which we get a tiny percentage out of what we pay in. :p

How about if you budget for things based on your earnings, tax credits and all? Why not claim tax credits if you're eligible for them?

As above I commented on the basis it was CTC rather than child benefit. But at the end of the day I would just prefer to live in a society where you pay for the things you require (then desire) based on what you can afford without any outside assistance. I believe this would encourage a better standard of living and sociality than what we currently have in this country with kids getting pregnant whist at school and those thinking that their actions have no consequence and that someone else will always provide.

Sorry about all my soap box comments but this is topic that annoys me to say the least. :)

why would he not collect it.. you have to be an idiot really. And the OP is paying tax right, so hes still working his "ass off" but hes just getting something back from the country. I think if you had kids, you would collect it

edit: and ive just read you do, why dont you claim it..

My bad for carefully budgeting for a family and then thinks going wrong causing me to have insufficient funds. Life's not that simple is it?
Again as per my original edit the comments were made based on the assumption of CTC.

But your comment does kinda enforce what I've been trying to say in regards to some people having reliance on the state when things don’t go to plan.

I can afford to have X amount of kids on my current income, but if something goes wrong I can’t afford it and will need assistance from the state.

How about planning around these issues with a contingency and having X minus 1 kids?

Again this isn't a personal attack on yourself, just an observation on this country as a whole. :(
