I have pretty much pirated everything since I got a mortgage - download it, try/watch it and if I like it, go buy it next payday.
I have saved so much on otherwise crap films or games that I would have bought and then been gutted as they were crap.

Nah... the law doesn't work like that. I could go to a website and say that I broke in to a bank and stole loads of money whilst brandishing a sawn-off shotgun. Without any evidence (and my confession on its own doesn't count) then there's no case. Same goes for someone saying they have "pirated" something.

I bought COD4 and TF2 from steam after trying them out, also had Crysis, which I didn't get as I thought it was over rated
Music wise - the last two albums I bought were Hed Kandi and the Killers, if I'm not sure I like something I will try it and see, that doesn't make me some scummy *****, I just have to make sure I like what I buy. Gone are the day of disposable income, at least till the kids are 18...

I buy all my games, because the money is needed to make them and especially in the PC market they need all the help they can to keep on going, I don't want to game puerly on a console and besides you quite often need the legit version to play online.
Music on the other hand, about 1% probaly reaches the artist and the other 99% is spent on marketing and some fat middle man embesels it, the artist is a millionarie anyway for doing what they enjoy so I don't feel guilty at all.
Films are kind of inbetween, ok they cost a lot to make but the actors, directors and the writers arn't exactly poor and I really really detest the anti piracy tactics big media companies take up. DRM etc.
Should I pay for a low definition DRMed copy that will self destruct after a week, probably installa load of cap on my PC or should I download for free the High Definition version with no dodgyness....??
These companies just don't like to accept that they are losing control of rhe media because it can be made, copied and distributed so easily, they care about power and money, not about good music or films. So screw em.
