:) so would quoting the name of a southpark espisode be ok, leaving it upto the user to find out how to access it???

What's adult about southpark? It's a normall show shown occasionally @ 6 pm on tv. Sure they swear a bit but that aint adult.
Surley just mentioning it is perfectly allowed ?

Anyways, all ther music vids on youtube are piracy too I guess, yet they still don't all get deleted ?

sorry but stealing isnt the same as breaking the speedlimit

stealing is the same as speading when u crash and hurt someone who is innocent

but speeding alone hurts nobody whereas stealing songs/films is hurting the movie/music buisness a lot

imo if you want a song enough to pirate it then it must be worth paying for

would u go to work every day and then give random people in the street half/ 3 quaters of your wages?

eh speeding alone doesnt hurt nobody? so u only speed when u know you are not gonna kill someone? "yes officer i was speeding but i knew i wasnt going to crash into anyone or run over a child..."

"yes judge, i was downloading off limewire but i knew i was going to get caught... o wait."

heh, there are a lot of saints on this forum, i think its just the rules that have rubbed off into a lot of people's way of thinking when they type here. personally i dont think piracy is that much of a big deal. there are so many bigger problems out there in the world. musicians and actors get paid millions anyway. the poor struggling artist is a poor struggling artist for a reason, they just dont have the talent required to make it big. the entertainment business is cut throat and competitive as hell and it has always been tough for new artists long before sharing over the internet came along. things just got tougher but then change and innovation does have its downsides eh.

you cant stop it, its in human nature to want to get things for free except for the many monks who reside here ;). yes its ethically wrong, but u arent hurting someone in person and so that makes a big difference. if u pirate are u in the same league as someone stealing cash out of someones wallet or pickpocketing them? black and white world sure its the same but so many people pirate then it cant be.

Piracy is the same as recording something off the telly to watch at a future date, or even recording the chart on a Sunday for your mixed tape.

I freely admit to downloading, mainly TV eps. My argument is that its the same as recording something on a Sky+ box, just that I’m using the Internet.

I completley agree with this logic. If you pay a tv licence, maybe a sky subscription, then where's the problem with downloading something you're going to get to see any way?

I never said they were exactly the same. But breaking the law is breaking the law. I was just getting slightly annoyed at some people getting very high up on their horses and was trying to make a point.

Besides, say you are doing 40 through a 30, you only you know you havent hurt anyone until you leave that 30 zone, or stop the car or whatever. IMO, speeding in built up areas is a more serious offense due to the possible consequences. The possibility of hurting a kid running across the road in front of me is much less deseriable than knowing a recording company and artists is losing a couple of quid.

I'm just using speeding as an example here, not saying I've never done it or trying to preach, but seriously. In the grand of scheme of things a bit of piracy is not the evil act are some are making it out to be. Jesus it getting to the point where the penalty is more severe than mugging someone in the street, and I'm not joking.

And anyway, I usually wouldnt feel that guilty as if I do want something really bad I do go out and pay for it. Over the last couple of weeks I have bought 8 DVD's and 5 games. I download stuff that I don't want to pay for as I don't think it's worth the cash. So, for me, no one is really loosing out. Yeah I could just go without, but it's there isn't it... Not saying that makes it right, just stating why I personally have been known to download stuff from time to time, and why I don't let it keep me awake at night.

I was hoping to post some silly pirate-based comeback of my scurvy shenangians but alas, nokkonwud already did on post 2 :p

I've pirated many a' file on the internet.. when I was like ****ing six.

Dirty Tom Cash

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

Bloody Morty Rackham

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

ok then, next tiem u go to work and get payed send 2/3rds of your cash to the nspcc, keep doing this and then u will know how the record companys feel imo

its not jsut a few quid between all the theifs who do it they loose billions, and if nobody did it the price of the songs ect would come down

thieves spoil it for everyone and sadly they are becoming more and more thieves and less ppl who care what there doing
