Has anyone been prosecuted for purely downloading songs/movies or is still the uploading part people are screwed on? THe next big thing will be if usenet servers/nzb sites start getting into trouble and how keen they are to hand logs over.

My "friend" sometimes downloads tv shows from the US as apparently he doesn't want to wait to see it with adverts, ages in the future.

your legally allowed to make backup copys of your originals (i think) but what happens if you then sell your origional on ebay (just an example) now that backup, is it now illegal???

btw who has a 'genuine' copy of windows installed on there pc???

The only thing you're allowed to make a legal backup of is computer software, and even then you're not allowed to circumvent copy protection to do it.

i would have thought that you can make legal 'backups' of what you buy because what happens if you origional snaps in the drive???

you can make backups legally problem is everything has some protection on it if you need to bypass this to back it up while the back up is legal you broke a law to make it.

Although i think this is being contested somewhere.
