Received my new N82 today... frst impressions...

the camera does have macro mode, video is also very good :) i had the k800i before this phone, the camera on that phone is no where near as good as the n82, well not for me anyways. i found the pics from the k800i too noisy when taking pictures where there isnt enough light. n82 f t w :D
 
the gps reciever is built into the phone meaning u wont need a seperate one. the phone itself comes with nokia maps which works very well, pretty much the same as my tom tom one. however you have to pay extra for voice guidance. i've opted to use garmin mobile xt as i already had a copy lying around. the phone also tends to pick up a satellite connection much faster than my tom tom and i can also get a connection indoors :D whereas the tom tom jus refuses to get anything indoors
 
My contract with 3 is due for renewal next month. I think I’ll get a N82 as my next phone. I’ve been reading this thread and it looks like that if you purchase from CPW the N82 is sim free.

Is this the same If you purchase direct from O2?

O2 (online) 600m + unlimited texts or free O2 calls for £35 a month plus a payment off £49.99 for the phone, = £679.99 over 18 months.

CPW is 600m + 500 t a month for £35, = £630 over 18 months. Can you get unlimited texts if you purchase from CPW?

If I stop with 3 they have the N95 8gb on the mix+match 1100 for £42 a month which = £756 over the 18 months. This is starting to get expensive as I don’t want to pay any more than £35 a month.

My plan is to but a N82 then at the end of the contract to still use the phone on whatever network is the cheapest, that’s why I want a sim free phone.

As O2 browser add on is expensive for what you get, can you pick up a signal on Wifi to browse the internet without charges?
 
Buy an N82 on Ebay, then go with the SIMplicity Online 25 (600mins, 1000txts, Free o2 to o2 calls)option from o2. You'll pay a little more, but won't be tied into any contract longer than 1 month and can then go with whichever network you like.

I want either the n95, n82, iphone or Viewty.

This is what i want from a phone:

Wi-fi/Free connectivity to the net using my phone and home internet & to be able to see the web page as they are and not a watered down mobile version.

Stylish look & good price (value for money).

Ability for SAT NAV.

Video Camera,

Fairly good quality camera.

£30 a month + £7.50 for the unlimited WAP bolt on.
18 month contract (I can upgrade after 15)
1000 txts
400 mins to any network any time.
Free unlimited 02 to 02 calls

Im rather chuffed with that, now to wait for the phone.

My mate works for 02 and told me when you go through to cancellation the longer you have been with 02 the more money they have in a 'pot' (so to speak) to keep you and spoil you rotten.

When i phoned 2 weeks ago, supposedly i have over £500 in my 'pot' so i could get an awesome deal... but the 'pot' isn't valid on an iPhone. Hope its valid on N82? N95 is meant to be crap someone said (always crashing).
 
Ok I have my first question (first of many I expect)

I have a ringtone which I have transferred to the phone (its a short MP3) how do I set it as my message tone, it doesnt seem to give me an option to go to my list of songs to set it as my message tone.

sorry cough delayed reply. no lockups in the few weeks ive had it. in fact its run like a dream. battery life is wicked even when it threw a strop and said my battery was running out 9am ish. it lasted me the rest of the day though i was at work so not hammering it just a few texts here and there.

the gps is indeed a lot faster then tom tom i previously used an xda orbit (open for offers) :) for sat nav and that was really slow.

This is perhap the best phone ive had for a while.
