I got the same opinion of EVE, I bought it, installed.... played for an hour and couldnt figure out what to do.... mined something for a bit and was just totally lost and bored at the same time.

I think thats crap but I can hold my hands up and say I didnt give it enough time and I know its a hugely popular game and wont knock anyone who plays it.

I agree with eve, i didn't give it long enough to try and mine, i flew around, crashed a few times into the big ass starting ship thing and uninstalled it.

I gave Warhammer enough testing time, bad graphics, animation, bad bugs, saturated classes. Its just wow, not a polished, not as in depth and worse graphics.

Dont forget though its only in the second stage of the beta so its not going to be 'polished' yet

Cant be any worse that WOW now ageing cartoony graphics?

Where as I love the gfx and the fact that I can run it on any machine including my work laptop if need be.

Each to their own, but game play is more important for me than the latest DX10 graphics and this is where WoW excels itself.

I'm hoping Warhammer will be great, but reading the previous responses it's not looking good.

Yeah..... agreed with the laptop angle, when I played I too did the same!

Well dont get to put off by the previous comments.... like I said everyone is different and not 100% of people will like this game...... I've read a lot more positive reviews that I have negative.

Even if every post I read said it was rubbish I'd still try this..... if it turned out I enjoy the game does it matter that other people think its crap?
 
I have to laugh whenever I see someone complain about a beta not being polished. It's not a pre-release free trial. It's six months (at least) from release. You're supposed to be there to spot bugs and comment on the state of the game.

If you think it's rubbish, mail them and tell them. Not much point in playing a beta if you're just going to use it to judge the game forever more.

WoW and Guild wars have a lot to answer for - they used their betas as a massive marketing exercise, and now everyone getting into any beta expects a free 6 month trial of a finished game.

On the contrary, they are looking very closely at user feedback

example; beta 1 we said the UI was broken, they overhauled it and fixed the problems
I cant go into details but there were certain features which were pointless, they were re-worked to have a purpose (for those in the beta see tomb of....)

If the amount of effort they put into reading the user feedback gets implemented it will be a great game and there ARE great features in it, there are a lot of broken features which i agree pull the standards down,
but its a beta what do you expect? the whole purpose of the beta is to iron them out and they arent going to get ironed out if you dont tell them.
Why do you think there are 10 day focus tests on various elements?

just a note for those who are whining about wow graphics, dont play WAR you will be dissapointed

The competition will most definitely be WoW with the new expansion introducing zone control (so i heard i havent looked myself) and such as a pvp addon

Nice reply. Couldnt agree more.

I wasn't whining about WOW's graphics more the cartoony fell of it.... looking for something a little more gritty and serious and as a former Warhammer tabletop player I know this game will provide this.

If your onvolved in the beta do you have any rough idea of a release date or can you not say incase of NDA violation?

Even in beta I dont really have a rough idea of release, at least nothing thats more reliable than public rumours anyway. Personally I am expecting late summer, but thats purely a gut instinct rather than any evidenced judgement.

I was hoping sooner but I'll just have to wait.

There website (as previously mentioned) states early 2008 at the moment?
 
People that complain about the graphics in a closed beta game should look back at games like WoW or even DAoC as its closely related, they looked horrid and it wasnt until the beta got much much further in that they started to improve.

Graphics are not a requirement to see if the games mechanics are working.

You are aware you were in a beta test,not a free demo for the game right? And as such were expected to put up with design,presentation and programming glitches and report them?

I doubt anyone would pay a subscription for a beta test.
 
hmm i find it a bit sad seeing people judging a game NOT YET RELEASED, by playing the beta test for a few hours :confused:

Are you aware that this game could change a lot before release? Also dont forget that Mythic is one of the few mmo companies that release quality mmo(DAoC had really great ideas but blizzard money factory grabed all the people by releasing a game with a background they use for years) Dont get me started about how wow is no good mmo come on, all it has is pretty graphics and background but the mmo in itself is empty as hell, i rejoin the guy that spoke about time machine back for UO :p that game rocked really
 
I agree with you Leo regarding your comments about both people complaining how un-polished the beta is (I thought that was the whole idea) and how empty and meaningless wow has become.

I'm really looking forward to WAR!

DAOC realm vs realm was the best fun I've ever had in a game, expect for maybe Planetside when it was at its best. As far as I'm concerned this is DAOC 2, and I can't wait :D

The fact that it's got Warhammer slapped on top is the icing on the cake :)
