My Mondeo was 1260kg, 140bhp and 2 litres and wasnt that quick?

100bhp/tonneish tends to give 9.5-10.5 0-60 doesnt it?

Oh my god!! could it be that the mondeo isn't built for speed after all? :p

I'm a bit confused by it because i've read somewhere its 9.5secs or so but i can't think where. Surprised they sit in insurance group 9 btw, pretty handy.

Its horrid.. horrible car horrible colour. Sorry mate. imo of course ;)
Better looking than a Celica; but looks are subjective aren't they? It's a cheap, reliable, attractive car with a colour that's an acquired taste and better than average 1.8 typical hatchback performance.

Not entirely sure what your point is. If it bothers you that much we shall refer it to from hereon as 'Generic mass produced Car B, with 2 litre engine and 140bhp'?

It doesn't matter what its built for does it :p An Astra isn't exactly built for winning races either if you are splitting hairs :p

What? This gets even better. Now we've got 135bhp Astras doing 0-60 in 7 seconds. I thought the Turbo was 7 seconds and thats got 200bhp!

Prolly a good purchase imo.

1) unique colour
2) sporty shape
3) not many around
4) its not 'just' a standard astra
5) certainly "nippy"
6) comfy looking seats
7) cheapish maintenance?

Plenty of positives and not many negatives as far as i can see.

I think he was referring to the turbo - Vauxhall never made a 2.0na Astra Coupe IIRC :)

Just my thinking too! The seats are rather nice - definitely like the leather. Hopefully it'll be reliable and cheap to maintain too!

The 2 litre is the turbo - hence the "2 litre does it in 7" comment I assume. :)

Oh and to the OP - nice looking car, always thought the coupes looked slick, definitely better than the MG.

When you think of what's out there for £4k in the Sports Coupe sector, given the performance and running costs, it's not a bad buy at all.

oh dead god that's ghastly (imo of course)

looks like a 3 door saloon. the silver astra on page 1 however is the only mk4 astra thats looks decent, well done Leeum tbh.

anyway, you like it and i hope you enjoy it

No since the 2.0 doesn't make anywhere near 140BHP standard :)

my mondeo is going on RR on saturday, we will see

Lol, It's wrong to state that its a 140bhp car though, Ford spec sheets list it as 129BHP (IIRC) not all Mondeos will make this and some may make more, so you going on an RR is hardly representative of the power of the car on a whole where as Fords spec sheet is. IMO.

EDIT :

Mondeo Zetec Specification: Five-door saloon
Body: Unitary-welded, steel
Dimensions: l: 4,556mm; w: 1,745mm; h: 1,425mm

ENGINE
Capacity: 1,998cc, four cyclinders
Power: 130bhp @ 6,000rpm

TRANSMISSION
Clutch: Standard Ford
Gearbox: Manual five speed

Where Fox plucked 10BHP from I'll never know, maybe he had a cat back with induction. :o

Why is it people say that "cant wait" to pick up cars like this, is it just me that would find the prospect of picking up a vauxhall a complete non event?

I dont get it, its basically the same as the rover, how is the prospect of picking it up exciting?

Because some people don't have the luxrury and the spare finance you do to be able to afford more expensive higher premium cars, so they look forward to what they can afford.

Why **** on his bonfire?

:o:rolleyes:
