Well after shocking people with my revelation that I dare to cook steak on my GF grill, I realised I have never cooked it any other way!

So tell me, how do YOU cook steak......?

(Hmm maybe we do need a cooking forum :D)

Surely a griddle pan is the same as a GF grill just one sided?

Well if you really want to do it properly you want a cast iron griddle and you never want to heat it past 70% of the hob's maximum.

Also, the griddle should never be washed with detergents, only with warm water.

Nothing beats slow cooking on a bbq, but for something a little different:

Season steak with cracked black pepper

Get a frying pan very hot with a little olive oil

Put steak into pan seasoned side down

Leave it brown before turning it over (dont turn it over too quickly)

Add a little butter to the pan and more pepper.

Coat the steak before removing from the pan, cutting into strips and serving. Yummy.

GF puts pressure on your steak that squeezes out the fat. The fat is what gives it the taste and keeps it moist.

Right, I see.

/Adds griddle pan to list of kitchen items needed.

Cheers to Will and AcidHell for the link to the thread I should have searched for. :D

Last time I cooked a steak, I pan fried a nice sirloin with some butter, salt and pepper and a bit of extra virgin oil, 5 mins each side and then put some mushrooms in with it in the last couple of minutes, tasted nice to me! :)

Just gonna do a quick thread hijack.

Does anyone know any good ways of making a Red Wine sauce?

If im doing it to go with a steak, I remove the steak from the pan lower the heat and deglaze the pan using a good amount of red wine let that simmer then wack it a pinch of salt and some red wine vinager very nice
