Hey

Im looking into buying an N95 8gb new model, but its on vodaphone.

Ive done some googling but I cant find any websites offering code unlocks for this model. Does anyone know anywhere where I may have missed?

Or do I need to get a phone shop to unlock it for me?

Cheers for any help.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe N95s can only be unlocked by the network which they are locked to. So you'll have to contact Vodafone, who may not be willing to help if you have no service with them.

mrochester is right. there are no remote unlock codes for the N95 as it is a BB5 phone. You have two choices either contact vodafone and get the code from them or you can use a third party unlocking service.

If you don't know one locally in your town you can use a postal service like the one found at the unlockme.co.uk forums

Hi Benj,

Vodafone will supply a Network Unlock Code (NUC) for you if you have an account with us either Contact or Pay As You Talk (PAYT).

If the phone's over 12months old the NUC will be free of charge, if it's under 12months there will be a charge of £19.99 (inc VAT). If you are a PAYT customer the £19.99 will need to be credited to your phone. Once the NUC has been issued the charge will be debited.

You would need to contact our customer services on 08700 700 191 or 191 from a Vodafone mobile. You will need to have the make/model of the phone and also the IMEI number available. The IMEI can be found by entering *#06# into your phone or it is also given in the battery compartment of the device.

If the IMEI number is kept on our system we can give you the NUC straight away. If we don't hold the details there is a timescale of 72hrs to retrieve it.

Hope this helps,

There is a BB5 unlocker available now. Someone on this very forum posted the info and a download link on here a week or two ago. I downloaded it but have not used it yet.

Edit: I have searched for the post and can't find it but it is mentioned in another thread on here- search for bb5.zip.

hey delbuenno, Ive looked at these bb5 unlock softwares on the net and the ones i came across were not for the n95.

hey delbuenno, Ive looked at these bb5 unlock softwares on the net and the ones i came across were not for the n95.

After 3 years of hard work, Dejan(a programmer from Serbia) has made unlocking of BB5 phones possible...In other words, you can now unlock your 6630, 6680, 3250, N70, N73, N80, N90, N91, N93i & N95... No need to pay large sums of money to phone operators…

Go to this address to download the app: http://users.net.yu/~dejan/

You need to have your data cable. This is the same cable you use to connect your Nokia phone with your PC. You must have the latest version of that cable driver.
Battery should be fully charged & any SIM card should be removed.

Instructions:
1. Connect your phone with cable to computer. Switch on phone.
2. Go to Device Manager, Modems, Nokia XXXX USB Modem. Right-Click and access the phones’ Properties. In the Modem tab, note down the COM port(1 to 9).
3. Unzip BB5.zip in a folder & run `install.bat`
4. Open file c:/bb5_unlocker/logs/bb5_unlocker.cfg and write here the COM port(1 to 9).
5. Run c:/bb5 unlocker/BB5logunlocker.exe
6. Click READ PHONE
7. Click MAKE LOG, log will be created in the folder LOGS. This log contains your unlock codes.
8. Enter codes to phone manually, or
9. Click SP UNLOCK to enter codes via FBUS

Mods please delete if this post is breaking any forum rules. Thanks.

Ive done this with a 6280 except i paid the £20 in cash in a voda store and got the unlock code in the post which took about 10 days

I'm trying this out and on step 3 when I run the Install file, I just get an error that says 'Cannot Open COM Port'. No idea where to continue from here.

Edit: You need to open up "bb5_unlocker.cfg" with wordpad or similar and change the COM port number to the one it says your phone is attached to in device manager (under modems- Nokia N95 USB modem). I just changed mine so it read COM 6: and it picked it up straight away.

Right I can now get the BB5 Unlocker up. But when I click 'read phone' it thinks for a while then eventually says 'bad connection! (check fbus cable, turn on/off phone, restart program etc)'

Tried all those, no good.

Yep, me too. I'm starting to think it doesn't work for the n95 now....:(
Maybe you need a different cable. On youtube they show n95 unlocking but using a 'Clip' and they look to cost around £30 (and involve taking the phone to bits and soldering!!!!:eek:). Looks like its the £20 provider option then...

I think you need the specific cable (not the one suplied with the phone, its only a DKU5 cable that will work (not DKU3). Had the same problems with my n70 & N73, not tried my N95...yet!

darn you got my hopes up then delbuenno! I thought none of the bb5 unlock softwares said they supported the n95, or at least the ones that i looked at. Apparently you can take it to those little market stall guys and they can unlock them for £10-15, other than that it seems to be the vodaphone option.

Well it's between £20.00 2 £25.00 and they can't always do it. I tried to get my n73 done and the place I took it to tried three times and gave up.
