Spec me a cordless drill

only 2 months ago i got one of the 18v's with 3 batteriesnow there £180...Do'H
That's the one I got for xmas. Not really used it in anger yet but it seems decent enough.
Definitely avoid anything under 18v if you're drilling into brick. My old drill was 12v and I could drill faster with my little finger. Now have a 24v and jobs are so much easier, and the holes don't end up the wrong size from having to push hard into the wall! 
tradesmen of the mechanical persuasion like me only use dewalt,bosch and makita

i find dewalt crap
had one of there battery drills a few years ago and the chuck was crap always slipped, has been makita since 
You ever tried drilling into brick with a hammer drill??? lol takes frickin ages
Nope, I think you'll find not using the Hammer mode will take you ages, you do know you have to switch the drill you're using into Hammer right?

Dewalt are posers drills (Sorry Dave - lol) Are't the innards of them made by Bosch or Hitachi?I prefer Bosch myself

them bosch 4kg SDS drills are damn good, we had one untill the local chavs where we were working decided to break in and pinch it

Black & Decker make De Walt.
never come across a cordless drill i want to own yet,only corded for me
dewalt have gone back in the betting recently
last 750 w bosch lasted a long time ,18 month which is good for the abuse i give them
had a small makita 650 w for years and it just keeps going
like i say for heavy stuff i hire a hilti ,it eats brick for fun,even more fun with a chisel on the end for removing plaster when doing the odd spot of diy

Dewalt aren't too great to be honest- just black and decker in a yellow case. Only dewalt thing i'd probably buy would be one of their mitre saws.
I'd go for a bosch (blue) or makita. That said i've heard a lot of good things about ryobi and ryobi is a fair few quid cheaper.

I worked as a plant fitter for quite a few years and at that time(10years ago) most of the cordless stuff we did was Makita, purely because they were tough.
The corded and larger stuff was Hilti(superb kit).
Dewalt seem very popular now, I'm told the best cordless stuff is made by milwaukee but its pricey and not common over here.

DeWalt are not Black and Decker drills in a yellow case. DeWalt (who are owned by Black & Decker) bought the german company Elu in 1994, and they now use Elu's technology in their tools. I guess that's why my DeWalt drills are made in Germany.
Elu were among the best cordless drills, circular saws and mitre saws you could buy back then.

I use my friend's quite often, and it's a superb machine.
I have three De Walt items, two of which perform well: a palm sander and a mini angle grinder. The jigsaw is rubbish.
