Best ISP For Gaming And Torrents?

Just found out BE is available in my area

Will be signing up for this tomorrow

Anything beats Orange broadband, useless gits

BT aren't allowed to charge you if you're out of contract as it would violate some consumer protection legislation I hope. I am currently locked into a BT contract because I stupidly accepted their Home Hub offer and have no end of problems with it. I want to go with Be because I had them for a year at Uni and had zero problems with them, top notch service, 20Mb down 1.3 Up where I was and you can get up to 2.5Mb up now if you meet certain criteria on connection quality. Also only 3 month contract with Be so you're not stuck with them if you don't like them.

Good news about BT - I wouldn't expect them to charge me but didn't expect Pipex to either...

Anyone have any ideas when Be Unlimited is coming to South East Essex?

I know there were some problems with transfer requests in the past about ISP's making you fork over money for some details needed by your new ISP to transfer the line, it was all over the news not that long ago and I think it has been resolved. ISP's legally have to fork over the information at no cost within 30 days or something now.

EDIT (from 2007):

OFCOM said:
Starting on Valentine's Day, users nearing the end of their broadband contract will be able to demand a migration access code (MAC) from their ISP. They can give the MAC to their new ISP, which should enable a seamless handover of service. The provision of MACs will become mandatory and must be made free of charge, according to new rules being imposed by Ofcom, the telecoms regulator.

We've got Virgins 20mb service at our uni house and it's excellent as regards downloading, upload isn't too bad but it's not the fastest.

The only downside is their policy regarding useage at peak times, meaning we often end up getting chucked onto a far slower line if we download more than 300mb between like midday and 4pm or something like that ...

Virgin Cable is easily the best. Constant 20Mb speeds day and night. Last time I checked the usage limit was 3GB on the XL (20Mb) package on peak time. Before/after that you can go nuts.
