With respect, before trying to learn the art of drag races, why not just learn a bit more about driving & car control in general? an advanced driving course for example ?
learn to drive fast, then look for a fast car imo.
You dont need 200bhp to safely overtake a bus. You currently drive one of the slowest cars made in the last 10 years - no exageration - so most things will be sufficient.
Change down a cog or two?

yes i feel its to much as its handling is really poor maybe to much torque or something but i can shift good and i would take you on if i had better car no disrespect

just tell me what fastest car can i get for 8000£ year 1998-2001 that does not eat ton of patrol and would have normal insurance on 22 year old

Well you've got some recommendations, what sort of mpg do you want?
there no need of that talk. i don't have particular style i would like all rounder good speed, great acceleration, good handling.
You're going to be limited in what fast cars you can get then if you don't want them to "eat" petrol.
Have you actually tried getting insurance quotes on any of these cars?
