Recommend 200+bhp car

yes as i made calculation bmw 330i eats about 14 liters per 100 km correct me if im wrong

Thats about 20 miles per gallon, you would probably get considerably better fuel consumption than that - with a 330i -, but, NOT when doing 1/4 mile sprints.

You can pick up a 2003 Astra gsi for under £7k, have a look on auto trader. They're a good car and the interior is nice - 200bhp and insurance group 17 if I remember correctly.

It sounds like you want a Lexus IS200. Just go and buy one.

You aren't going to get many 200bhp cars that are particulary good on fuel. Kate gets around 28mpg from the 200SX if driven conservatively.

A BMW 330/530 will be probably about as economical as most other similar power cars in terms of MPG. Have you factored in running costs at all?

£6k to £8k for a phase 2 if you look, £4k up for a Phase 1

Mitsubishi Galant 2.5 VR4 4wd

Quad Cam Twin Turbo Intercooled

manual or tiptronic

280bhp and lots of torque from 1500ish rpm

Climate, AYC, All the trimmings

Cheap to insure

20 to 30 mpg depending on driving style and road

I went from a 1.4 206 to a 2.0L EP3 Type R, petrol is an iffy one with this car. Some get great miles, some don't. I get 200-250 miles per full tank (50L) on average, best is 300. I drive 14 miles a day on 60 mph roads and I do give it a bit VTEC too which obviously increases consumption. Cold weather seems to drop the economy a bit too.

Im that bothered about fuel however, as I absolutely love driving the car and like my dogs I feed it what it needs to keep the smile on my face.

Friend had an IS200 and although I really like the look of them and they are well built, it was painfully slow for such a big engined car.

If you want performance at a cheap price you have to look at diesels. Only thing with diesel BMWs is if they break its shocking repair bills.

You can get a Seat Leon that looks like a Cupra R but its diesel. Theres a yellow one near me for sale. If you can get one within your budget then get it mapped I would imagine it ticks all the right boxes.

the "lexus is200" with 200bhp is the imported toyota altezza with a beams tuned 4 pot, looks like a nice car but you can only import the 2000/2001 one as theres no sva for the "facelift" model. it has uprated suspension and breaks, plus subtle body work differences over the lexus, but essentially is the same car. Also 90% seem to be auto :(

you obviously know nothing about cars to warrant a 200bhp+ vehicle.

just get a 120-150bhp hatchback, will feel fast enough compared to the OMGZZZNOTEVENZATURBO 1.9 lump in your 206.

:)

Is anyone else worried at the prospect of this chap have anything more nippy than his 206?

I was thinking the very same thing.

have you had a look at how much MX5 you can get for your money? (not you, Fox) they're great at overtaking buses and can be pretty nippy if driven well (even better turboed - damn you FF!!)

You want something nippy that doesnt eat fuel and looks nice, try test driving a Leon Cupra Diesel. Relatively quick for what it is, cheapish to insure and run, tax isnt much. There are tons and tons of cars but if you want petrol over 200bhp you cant really be ultra picky over fuel.
