Official Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i Review/Overclock/Guide Thread

Its not for the P5N-T

0502 Description BIOS update file for P5KC (Version 0502)

So it is!

Typical of Asus, seems their site never benefits from anything like the consistency of their products. Wonder if it's a just a typo and the BIOS is infact the correct one, the filename would suggest so, but better not to risk it I guess.

Umm okay, i can't use both RAM sticks either, get a BSOD on boot, works with only one atm, tried different permutations too :S so...so far, HDD,slot,RAM problem, damn this sucks, i hope its not the board thats faulty though, but going to try the HDD on another machine on monday, and see what happens, any suggestions for the RAM ? and any idea why my GFX card wouldn't work on the slot closest to the CPU?

I would say if you live close enought take it all into the shop ( If its been bought from there of couse :) if not test as much as you can and RMA back the faulty stuff.

Am i right in thinking this motherboard requires a lot of power?

I have a 550watt antec trio powering;
Q6600 @ stock
2 x 8800 GTs
3 HDDs
2 sticks of ram
p5ne-sli

i know im pushing my luck, but my psu does run that set up perfectly, but i think with the new mobo, AND the much bigger overclocks on the cpu and ram i would achieve, it might go over the limit.

should i get a new one? if so, which would offer 100% compatibility with this board. baring in mind i dont need a 1200watt beast of a psu.

thanks

Fixed the RAM problem, but damn, i must have a faulty slot then, as i tried putting the card in that slot once more and booting, and i just get one long beep and 3 short. Other than that, the build is complete bar the 2nd HDD which i need to RMA, working really well atm :)

It depends really on what you plan to do in the future, Nvidia say you need 1100w plus for TriSLI. But quality matters for high end systems a 500w Seasonic supply will give you better overclocks and a more stable system and a 2000w Q-Tech supply would as there would be less ripples on the voltage lines. Also with the next generation of GFX cards no one knows if they are going to need more power or less. A high quality 700w to 850w supply would be fine in your system as long as you dont plan on TriSLI :)

Just wondering if any more people have bought this board yet, and have had any problems with the PCI slots?

Actually... just reading back on the first page of this thread, maybe i need to have the GFX card in the slot i have it in, and when i do Sli then have it in the other slot.

Anyone else trying TriSLI on this board yet ? I'm having a few issues :p

Hello again!

I only have a striker extreme with 2x 8800gtx's, but a third gtx is currently installed in my "work" system. I was close to giving it a try yesterday but since you - as an evidently experienced user - are encountering problems, and given the fact that Quad SLI - which I made the mistake of investing in over a year ago - was such a disaster, I'm not sure I can be bothered :D.

May I ask specifically what your issues are?

Those scores are with the hotfixes and crysis patch, without them its even worse. I hope Nvidia have some super drivers ready soon lol
