160gb ide drive says it is a 60gb?

well mate insalled new laptop drive from ocuk today 160gb but showing as a 60 gb drive any help pls thanks.
 
The other parition could be hidden as a backup partition or restore.

Check BIOS reports 160GB. It's possible might need to flash BIOS, contact Sony giving your BIOS revision, perhaps new release supported larger HD's.
 
As someone has suggested check to see if there are any BIOS updates. He should also check to see if there are any jumpers on the hard drive. Some hard drives have a jumper that sets then to work at a lower capacity (to aid compatibility with ancient PCs).

Also if the drive doesn't cleary say 160bg on the lable he should google the part number, just to make sure he's not been sent the wrong drive.
