Can you run 1 of these in a non crossfire P35 board?

TBH for a card like this (ie one whos performance relies on CF/SLI) you would be daft to purchase it / pre-order it before seeing some concrete benchmarks.
by this I don't mean it will be rubbish however I will want to see proper benchmarks before dropping any money on the card.

£320 they can ram it, i'll order it from america if it hits anywhere near that over here. Imo even £275 is tearing the ass out of it.
no chance - I can get it cheaper buying from america.

Also crossfire is very effective as a dual GPU setup right now!
You need a x16 pci slot as it divides it by x8 and x8 for each of the GPU's on board so just make sure you have a x16 PCI-E lane and your laughing
It's the chip in between the two GPU's on board that does all the crossfire stuff on the hardware so you dont have to worry
with the 8.1drivers on their way as we speak and should be released on the day the card comes out or a few days before

They were released yesterday.![]()
So I may need to purchase an x2 on the 25th to cheer me up after some.....hard graft! haha!
I see no reason why not, as long as the slot is pci-e 1.1 16x then it should run just dandy![]()
Cool so it does not need some crazy crossfire thing on the board its all done in the card..

Would 2 work in the asus maximus mobo?
this is annoying, I just phoned up ati and they have no info themselves, they dont even know if you need cross fire or cross fire x. useless.
it wouldnt even break nda as they have already said in numerous statements that it has 2 gpu's. surely they should know if their crossfire technology can take 4 3870's in 2 slots.
They might be paranoid due to the fact that Nvidia are releasing a dual core GPU also, still its probably the worst kept secret in a while.
