hey,

Does anyone know of a tool/program that will allow me to extract the vbios from a phiniox FSC .bin BIOS and replace with a new one?

I've tried everything I've found but so I'm been unable to edit the .bin file.

any ideas??

cheers in advance :)

not tried any tools.. just did a google.. for u
not tried editing bios's for years used to program eproms on the BBC masters 128 years ago had an eprom programmer to program 6502 lines off code, not followed on that route for awhile..
With the Modbin/Modbin6 u can edit bios's etc but check all ok before your going to edit and program the bios with new,

Sorry my question was directed to the OP, you just got your post in before me :)

If the OP can list the tools that he has used I can then look at the ones that I have, which might be different, as I have few that I can share.

Hi guys,

Thanks for replying.

I've tried cbrom215, phoenix editor, BIOStools, BIOSview (from link provided)and BIOSedit.

The main problem I have is that none of these programs seem to support the file type that I downloaded from FSC.

I have a .ocf (latest bios - but still hasn't got vbios included) or a .BUP file (earlier version I think)

If you can help I would be forever in your debt!!!

Well I have got, which might work for the Phoenix BIOS....

Phoenix BIOS Editor 2.2.01 for Windows

also, although not really an editor...

WinPhlash_1_50_55
Phlash16_1_4_59a

The other tools that I have got are for Award and AMI, not really of much use for you.

I'll try anything!!! (well, within reason;))

winphlash - is that an editor??? I think I download that but it seemed to ony be a flash agent.

can you upload to some where???

cheers again!!

I am just uploading the whole lot to megaupload, don't blame me if it stuffs up what you are wanting to do though...!!!

I will edit this post with a link when it is finished uploading.

EDIT: I have not edited a Phoenix BIOS file, it just so happens that they were amongst some others that I grabbed, so I'm sorry but I can't help you on that point.

Link.....

I'm not going to hold you responsible so don't worry.

Your a GOOD MAN. Thanking you :)

Thanks for the upload Vimes.

I've tried all the phoenix bios editing tools but none will open either .BUP or .OCF :(

I'll have to go back to google, maybe try seraching "edit .OCF" as no doubt the BUP file will return loads of DVD stuff.

Cheers again!

I would suggest that you go here..

http://www.wimsbios.com/index.jsp

and post a request as there are some good people there who should be able to modify the BIOS file for you and insert the vbios (if it will fit) into the file that you need.

Be VERY careful as it is very easy to brick your board, unless the BIOS chip is socketed and you have a spare :)
