Liverpool Fans - Is Rafa Next To Go?

I would get shot of him. Think he should be doing better in the league with the time he has had.

Not a question of winning it or the money he has spent or not - I think he currently has a squad that could have been closer to Man Utd and Arsenal at this point in the season. I think it's down to style of play, motivation, tactical and selection decisions - all of which comes down to the manager.

What is the financial situation with Liverpool/G&H?

I was under the impression that they would be using their own personal wealth ala RA but I've heard that they are now going to be borrowing the money against the club? Is that right?

i think rafa will be out at the end of the season regardless and it wouldn't surprise me if moanypants comes in. as a fan i get frustrated by some of his team selections at times but also think we get lots of unfair stick (i'll come on to that). all in all we've lost only 2 games this season (in the league) 1 more than the arse and less than utd and chelski but we've drawn 9. there have been times this season when we've been awesome and shown what we're really capable of but we can't string a decent run together which is probably down to rafa messing with the formation and team.

i actually quite like his signings. i though babel was the best player at the u21 euros (alongside drenter i think who is now at real), torres will become one of the best players in the premier league; lucas looks ok but i'm not quite sure why we need another midfielder though - it's kuyt and voronin where we fall down.

on to the conspiracy theories; any time liverpool are mentioned in any of the media it's generally criticism or stick of some kind even when it's baseless speculation and they've better things to talk about. this also runs on to everton too funnily enough, everton are pretty much the form team in the premiership at the moment but who talks about them? when are their games on motd? buried at the bottom that's when! someone pass me tinfoil hat it's a conspiracy!!! :p

They took out a personally secured loan of around £220m (around £180m for the club and £40m for its existing debt) to buy the club which ends shortly (though they have an option to extend it for another year). They are now looking to take out another loan of around £350m to pay off the initial loan + to cover the ~£20m borrowed to buy players this summer and the rest of the money going into the club for the stadium etc. This £350m is thought to be made up of £60m of the Yanks own money (£30m each), a further ~£120m which is secured agaist there personal assets and then the remainder of the £350m secured agaist the club. In other words the money to buy the club (the ~£180m) has/is either going to come from there own pocket or from personally secured loans (but the repayments will be coming from the profit the club makes) but the money for the stadium, players and the clubs existing debt will be secured against the club.

This isn't something new though, near enough every clubs loans are secured against the club rather than the owner and iinm even the money RA has pumped into Chelsea is on the clubs books and will have to be returned to RA if he decides.

Word on the street is that a representative from DIC was at Steven Gerrards house last night talking about their plans for the Club.....

Watch out for newspaper headlines tomorrow: Sheikh in Stevens :D

I've figured out what's going wrong at Liverpool. It's Rafa's facial hair. When was the last time a manager with facial hair won the league?

It's true...and they may not even keep Benitez.

Headline for that one...Sheikh, Rafa and dole..

I'm here all week :D

lol

On a serious not though, there are stories in the echo today saying that DIC have agreed a deal in principle to buy out Hicks' stake in the club. I really hope thats true, Hicks is a **** that needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.

its good now its not up to parry, cos the yanks will sell up to make a profit if DIC offered them something good, then DIC would come in and sack him(parry) and maybes we'd see a little more professionalism.

lol

There have been a few stories on the net today but this has just cropped up

http://www.eatsleepsport.com/articles/680479.html

don't know how reliable it is though

it was on a Radio 5 sports bulletin earlier - H&G have dismissed claims of a buyout as totally without foundation, but i suppose it's down to how much you believe them.

lol

Aye he's a bit of a knob, seems very arrogant as well.

He's a typical American, just can't keep his mouth shut and loves the attention the press gives him. The biggest problem is that he clearly has no idea about football, the english press etc; he only joined Gillett a week or so prior to the bid. Gillett has used his brain, done all the positive talking at the start to get the fans on side and since then just stayed quiet where as Hicks is on SSN every other day talking about club matters that should be kept quiet.

As for whether there's any truth in this story, who knows. There's all sorts of rumours in the press after whats gone on, we've had stories of the yanks not being able to raise the money (not true they've just haggling over the interest rates etc), stories that Hicks and Gillett have fallen out over putting debt onto the club (very possible), stories that Hicks and Gillett are argueing with the board over putting the debt onto the club (complete bs as they and there sons are the board (Parry has no say)) and now this.

The are some positive signs regarding this story; what Hicks said the other day about DIC's bid for a stake in the club shows that despite the problems with there first bid, they are still interested. Hicks' mouth has not made him any friends in Liverpool and hopefully his position becomes untenable and the chance of a quick profit makes him decide to sell up.
