Polo, Fiesta or Corsa?

Regards the OP, theres no point really changing the car. Your car is only 2 years old. I'l keep it for another year atleast then see what you like at the time.

I would not buy a brand new car either when you come to change. Save the cash and get a decent used car.

look at a depreciation curve on new cars over say 5 years, why do you want to keep being the one who loses the most money quickest?

it just doesnt make sense to change a 2 year old car for another that is equally lackluster...

as others have said i would keep your polo for a couple more years or sell it and get the new mini. Why spend more money just to side step?

I'm sorry but that sort of money on a 1.2 litre Corsa is just daft. If you only want to get from A to B in comfort and you dont really care about performance etc etc then thats absolutely fine but.. why spend all that money? You can get reliable, decent cars for loads less.

You have to accept that people look for different things in cars compared to yourself, some people like to buy new ish cars so they can run trouble free for 3-4 years and know that if anything does go wrong warranty covers it.

Some people don't like to buy older cars with high miles even if they are good buys and are reliable, you can obviously add a 3rd party warranty on to these however over 3-4 years they won't be cheap.

I have yet to see a car in this thread that isn't LOSE incarnated. The OP's Polo will do the job, but so will Mrs Palm and her five lovely daughters. Doesn't beat the really thing tho. Same applies to the Corsa of FAIL tbh, I'm sorry but buying that car really does show that even intelligent people turn into utter idiots when SMS* comes into things. The only two valid reasons for buying and 07 plate Corsa are 1) A man holding a shotgun to your family's head and 2) Mental disability.

Ripper -do you actually realise you have blanked out the majority of the car? What you've paid for is a number plate along the lines of NO08 LOL and at least that would be worth something. NE07 SUX is not worth the money you spent and the Corsa is an utter joke - sorry, buy a real car not a fail-mobile tbh.

No, this is twaddle spouted by the automotive industry to sell rubbish cars. Buying a car just because of a good warranty is stupidity. If my car breaks down, I can't get to work, so it HAS to work regardless - a warranty is ****-all use in taht situation. These generic hunks of turd are not worth the money you spend on them - the dealer is selling you crap and laughing all the way to the bank.

I bought a Mazda Xedos 6 with 125k on the clock, did 15k miles in 9 months and it cost....£200 in that time. Never failed to start. Always got me to work. I have since bought an A4 diesel on the P plate. Shock-horror, it's has yet to break. New cars are vanity, proper cars are sanity tbh

In fact, i think i know of more people who have had to taken their brand new cars back to the dealers to have new starter motors, new ENGINES, electronic problems, brake problems, than people with used cars.

This utter **** about brand new cars being reliable is such a myth. Why people spend thousands of pounds more and use the excuse "oh but I have a warranty with mine", is beyond me. Just take those thousands of pounds you could have saved if you had bought used, and put it in a bank account for use if your car does break down. And trust me, your engine, gearbox and wheels would have to fall off at the same time to match the amount of money you would have saved by not buying brand new and got it repaired privately.

Thing is, we need these clueless people to buy new cars, otherwise we wouldnt be able to buy the depreciated bricks that we all hanker for!

Marketing people are like the devil, they convince the masses summat rotten, its like the muppets who buy base spec beemers with crappy engines, conned by the marketing devil:p

True however all depends on what you buy though, guy at work bought Mini Copper S when they came out and were in big demand ran it for 12 months putting 22k on it sold it for what he paid for it as there were still in demand and he had picked a sensible spec. He did the same with a TT and is currently doing the same with a S3 he gets on the waiting lists early and sells them privately after running them for a few months before the demand slows down for them.

I am not dissing older cars as not being cheap to run, I ran a TD Xantia to 130k with my dad all trouble free but he also had a Passat TD before this that needed a new engine at 120k. I am just saying some people prefer to have a new cars there is no need to shot them down in flames because you personally don't like or want to spend money on a new ish car. I am sure if someone came into a thread and took the mickey out of you for buying a old car you wouldn't be impressed.

People have to accept that not everyone wants or looks for the same thing in a car as them. If someone wants to buy a new car its there choice, if someone wants to buy a older car its there choice. You have to remember you wouldn't be sitting in your A4 if someone hadn't bought it new.

People aren't necessary clueless buying a new car they simply think that x amount of money is worth having a new ish car to enjoy driving it etc I personally think the money I spent on my car to drive it over say a 10 year old Mondeo is worth it, I accept other people don't think the same.

I've had my fair share of drives in new cars - infact as I type this I am at Fleet Services on the M3 and the car I am driving - parked outside - is a 57 plate Mondeo with 1000 miles - and they do feel different to 10 year old Mondeos etc. Lots different.

But they dont feel much different to 2-3 year examples, or even older examples of premium cars.

I hope you aren't implying that everyone who buys a new car is clueless!

Whats up with the 530i?

I got to agree with you on the 2-3 year old examples. They dont seem much different even at all to the brand new cars.

I just cant see the point of being the first owner of a car and loose all that cash.

Wow how mature. If someone wants to buy me a new car I'm hardly going to say no. I like it, thats all that matters.

Vote Fabia or Corsa but personaly I would keep onto current car for a bit longer.

Dont go for a Mini you WILL look like a hairdresser as much as owners wont admit it :D

Are things getting that bad on this forum that people are now brainwashed into thinking that buy a new car is a sign of heresy, especially if its a small hatch?

All cars (with very very few exceptions) are a waste of money.. new or old..

granted that buying new at RRP from a dealer is going to be more painful then a few month old/year old example. .but so what.. if some people like to have a new car, let them.. to say they are mad for doing so is just showing an incredible amount of short sightedness on your behalf..

The corsa is OK in it's class, it seems to fare well in review, so how you can come to the conclusion you'd need a gun held at your head to consider one beggars belief..
