Playing chicken with cars: ******* idiots

run them over and drive off, they wont be able to remember the details of your car

even if they do remember the details they also need a witness as I found out when some car hit me on my motorbike then did a runner ,I had driver description ,reg plate and car details but thats not enough for the police these days my word against his
So remember boy's and girls if you every get run over by a hit and run make sure you take a picture of the car knocking you over !

What would happen if you did hit him & he at worst died? Would part of blame be given to you or? Just wondering really :).

This happened to me just after I passed my driving test, except I wasn't as lucky as you. I'd been visiting a friend after school, and on my way home I saw several cars pulling over in the inside lane and rather dodgy looking people standing beside them, so I sped up a bit and pulled over to the outside lane. Just beyond all the stopped cars, a guy jumped out at me. I slammed my brakes on and swerved - luckily it was a very wide roads, so there was a cars width of chevrons in the middle of it. The guy actually jumped again after I swerved, and slammed into my bumper then went right up in the air then fell to the ground and didn't move.

It was the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me, I thought he was dead. Apparantly he was drunk and high, and his girlfriend who had been with him came over to tell me how sorry she was after the ambulance arrived. It turned out that he had been trying it for a while, a girl in another car saw what happened because she had turned round to come and shout at him and stayed to give a statement to the police, so I was just the unlucky one.

The police kept me and witnesses at the scene for quite a while, but everyone agreed that it was entirely his fault. When my mum took her insurance documents in to the station at the weekend, she was told the guy had broken his hip (I think) and that we could press charges to get money to fix the damage he'd done to our car, but he would probably get the courts to let him give £1 a week, and even then he'd default it.

I guess it's a positive thing that it would have been us charging him and not the other way around, although I had a LOT of witnesses and the fact he was off his face.

This annoys me a lot. Why are people so selfish? It's like committing suicide on the railway, you get what you want, the driver has nightmares for the rest of his life and hundreds of people have their trains cancelled.

:(

I would have hit him and kept on going... "I sneezed and heard bumping noises under my car, I thought the retaining nut for my spare tyre had worked it's way loose" :)

Seriously, if a gang of chavs was hanging around and one jumped out, I'd hit him and drive off like nothing had happened. If you stop, you have the chance that they will smash your motor up anyway.

Just to clarify, although I think chav-kind really are scum, I would never hit and run, or accelerate etc. Chavs are still humans, even if they don't act like them.

If there's a group of around 30 of them by the road and one jumps out, there is NO WAY I am stopping to argue the toss with their "homies". You must be mad :) I would try to stop and if they are still being a tool, I would accelerate regardless.

So you did charge him?

Hope so!

There wasn't any point :(. He would have just got a slap on the wrist and wouldn't have paid for the damage to the car. We never did get it fixed, so I had a 50p sized hole in the front of the car as a horrible reminder for 3 years after it happened.
