Burnout Paradise review by IGN

Games(tm) gave it 7/10. I haven't got the magazine in front of me but they thought that the open world aspect of SP was frustrating. They especially highlighted not being able to restart a race once it was in progress.

EDIT: I believe they berated the lack of a proper crash mode too.

Wouldn't worry about it too much, most of the review team are knobs.

I played the demo and wasnt impressed, maybe I am just growing out of gaming

lol, think god was about to post i hated the demo, is it just me or does anyone else hate this free roaming crap?

And as for the sign posts moving together at the top of the screen as you got close, thats was pretty hard to navigate anything.

Now if when you started a race you got the nice big arcade style arrows/ barriers coming up that would have been nice.

Probobly jsut me, just I loved ALL the Burnout games :(

No it's not just you, there's a few hard-core Burnout fans on here that hate this new system, and it's each to their own.

But the free-roaming may be better because of how the game seamlessly integrates all the races into everything.

What you've had before is something like the following:

Pick a race.
Start.
Lose.
Restart.

All this is time consuming, people complain about loading times, navigating this, shall I play that course, shall I attempt this one, it's all gone out of the window.

NOW, you have something like the following:

Drive.
Stop at lights.
Race.
Lose.
Carry on, to hell with it, cause a crash.
Stop at lights (admire big crash bonus! woohoo!!)
Race.
Lose.
Carry on to next lights JUST around the corner, it's only 3 seconds away
Stop at lights.
Race.

Etc.

It's totally seamless. No loading, no navigating menus.

The MP aspect is all built in. Again, unlike it's previous versions, there you are driving down the road, rolling into stuff, causing carnage and you quickly press the D-pad 3 times and several seconds later your mate joins in. Do you both do crashes, both attempt a race, some stunts. Maybe your mate decides to invite his mate in too, all within the game, no going back to menus and invites, setting up lobbies or what-have-you. Just works!

There are a hell of a lot of people that hate this new version, but it's got some pretty damn innovative ideas in there and those who have played it for a LONG time for reviews are generally saying it 'just works', because it's so simple.

As much as I liked the demo and plan on getting this at release the lack of a restart or quick jump function is crap. Even NFSMW had this feature and it worked very well indeed, loading times included.
The rest of the features I agree are very cool but thats a blatant flaw in the games design imo.

USA stores started shipping this out on Friday and the UK online place I have ordered from is receiving their copies on Wed, so I am expecting them to get my copy to me by Thursday morning.

I don't know why I am excited, but I am. (It may be because I realised I have the ps3 camera and I can stick heroes related pictures on my profile!!!) Everyone will get to see the Cheerleader, every time they do a takedown on me!

I somehow doubt that. I came out of retirement at the LAN to show Psymonkee and WhiteRoser what I can do.
You can have your out-dated Tekkens, racing games are mine.... unless W1DGET is about...

You best pray then, that I don't borrow my mates 360 one anywhere down the line, may have to send you back into retirement. ;)

Whilst Crash mode is by far my speciality, I can be a bit of a takedown demon online at times.

There is more to my gaming skill than Tekken/Super Stardust/Super RubaDub/Lumines, If I pick a game and hammer it for a week, I will leave other people in my smoke.... Bunout isn't that skillfull online though (apart from Crash mode), compared to other games.

If you continue to be delusional, I suggest you remain in retirement my friend.

lol, that was meeee.

Disappointed you can't remember it was me :(.

To be totally honest, I can probably remember only ever playing the game with you 3 times. Once at the LAN and the other 2 times spread over multiple months.

99.9% of the time it was Psymonkee, Cokecan, MadFruit, VaultingSlinky, Wyrdo, DaMic,suarve and Toppy.
