FAO People with Hiper Type-R 580W - Or have RMA'd one

Well I think I will have to buy a new PSU, have you got any suggestions for my setup

E6600
X1950 XTX 512 ram
4 gb ram,

what I did notice with the hiper is that my pc stutters when the graphics card fan kicks in that surely isn't right, I wonder if the graphics card has under clocked itself.

no its just likely your damaging it over time due to the hiper not powering it enough.
 
I have a 480w and I have to be completely honest, but I thought it was a great PSU and I had no problems with it at all.... EVER!

However, it went with a pop about ... Ooohhh a year or so ago now?

It went when it was about 7 months old and its been in my cupboard since.

It kind of still works in that it makes a great strobe when used with neons but other than that its cruddy.

I might see if I can RMA it?

I am glad to say that I have never thrown a box out while I still have the components so I should still have the box, but as for the receipt...?

Lol, thats even bloody worse :eek:

If that was me i would probably try and sell and get as much money back as i could and buy a corsair or seasonic (iirc the corsairs are rebadged seasonics anyway)

In another thread i showned this not to be the case. not only do tjhe seasoniscs have a better build with an extra fan they also have an extra 18a rail allowing them to produce quite a bit more amps.
 
So have the corsairs moved away from seasonic then, i couldnt quite remember as i thought that somewhere someone said that could be the reason why some of the newer corsairs are failing (though not quite at the same rate as poor old hyper)
 
Everyone thinks they are *** same because the HXs are/were made by seasonic. I never understood why this means they are the same. Does that mean that when bmw owned mini their mini's were the same as as well made as their M3's or what ever they had at the time lol.
 
yous hould be paying them to dispose of it :p

I think your best bet is to put it on the bay with like a 35 quid reserve and see what you get.

I got a refurb replacement for mine.

I actually had the nerve to sell it on eBay too. I sent Hiper a blue one, they sent me back a black one and I sold it to someone for 30 notes in a used plastic carry case with blue cabling.

I feel bad now :(
 
I've got a replacement they sent me after an RMA (mine had a weak 5v rail.. didnt blow up) sat in my spare box now.. I'm a bit scared of turning it on again :S

Well just had a look.. this one has the +5v rail running at ~4.87v.. which isn't very good is it :S
