Should this be cencored

That advert didn't make me think "Hmmm schoolgirls are sexy, I must go and be a paedophile".

It made me think... "Hmm she's looks nice. Wonder if I can convince my girlfriend to dress up for me like that last night, bet she'd look even hotter in that sort of outfit."

It didn't make me think "ooooh cheap air fares" but I did think "Heh, an airline company with a sense of humour/fun, maybe I'll fly with them next time instead of those miserable BA ****s".

I feel there is a bit of a paradox and often a great deal of hypocrisy in these matters. For instance, there is no ban on the sale of make up, jewelry and scant clothing to pre teen girls and a mainstream film is released with women dressed as schoolgirls engaging in very lewd and bad behavior, yet nothing is said. An airline releases an advert with a women dressed as a schoolgirl and we are all meant to be horrified and scream loudly about the sexualization of children.

Ryan Air often say provocative things, good for them I say, they certainly know how to wind up the publicity machine and let her rip. It is a crap advert but in a way it is a great advert because we are all talking about it. Will it sell more flights, probably not to me but it makes me like Ryan Air for being different and a little bit anarchic.

Oh noes, I have a good vocabulary, I must have a thesaurus on hand at all times to aid me with my lexicon. It's completely implausible that I should be able to choose at my whim from such vast swathes of words without external aids.

Ironically, I'm going to have to look up neophyte... Haha. I'm not sure what you mean by that, but if you're going by dictionary definition alone, then that really doesn't define my experience with speaking and writing English in any way.

Also, the post in my signature is a tongue in cheek dig at people who punctuate sentences with lol and lmao. It winds me up, I thought I'd construct a silly post about it. It's hardly serious, and I'm not sure how you'd construe it as being in keeping with my being a "neophyte".

:eek:Argh too many long words my brain can't take it :p

Don't worry he's a Russell brand wanna be. One day he'll grow up and realise it doesn't make him any better then anyone else just becuase he knows more/larger/complicated words. I have friends like you to whom I normally scoff at or just think to myself what a t**t.

I wonder if we will ever be allowed to just live our lives and do things without having to worry about whether some obscure one person in a million MIGHT BE OFFENDED.

Incidentally - that ad has a very japanese sexual fantasy thing about it. They have a "thing" about schoolgirls, short skirts, socks etc I understand. Remember the evil little japanese schoolgirl killing machine in kill bill.

And come to think about it - by the same logic as this ad being in trouble - why wasn't Kill Bill banned.

I wondered how long the comparison would take. Russell Brand is quite amusing, if only for his flowery language.

I never said it made me better, though I will say that I am better at English than most people I know.

Good stuff. You just keep being angry, it'll do wonders for your blood pressure.

There is no such thing as bad publicity, especially in this day and age of the internet.
How many people have read a thread on a forum about this? How many people will have clicked links to ryanair website?
Regardless of the reason, if someone had read that news and then in the next week / month needed to book a cheap flight, ryanair would pop into their mind.

100% correct. A few weeks back i done a case study at Uni on Ryanair and their CEO openly admitted that this type of controversial advertising is totally planned to get as much coverage as possible for as little as possible. He gave an example of an advert involving the Pope they put in an Irish paper for £200 which ended up being splashed across the press all around the world for days on end and said that it would have cost them £1m's to get that much coverage.

I dont get angry I just laugh at people like you. Laughter helps the blood pressure.

No becuase they think they are better then me. Besides I can spell and I do know how to use grammer.

Good for you. You'll note that I never said I was better than you, and that it was you who started this tangent by trying to argue that that posturing was not the correct word to use in the situation.

You may have have noticed I like argueing then :D Sorry I have been like this for afew weeks now. Its the job its doing my head in. But I have now started a new department and will be back to my cheerful self soon....I hope.

Just wondering what sort of english qualifications do you have. Or is just a hobby to know as many words as possible. Myself I am much like you I hate poor spelling and the use of wrong words eg "I brought a new game" instead of bought. My english qualifications are exactly zilch. I didn't do english GCSE

Because ASA and organisations of that sort have a formula. With which that percentage is multiplied to work out the exact number of people who have been affected but haven't spoken out. So thats in actual fact 13 million people.
