What is COD4 like online?

I have played the following online:

Fear combat:)
TF2:)
Half Life Death match:D
UT 2004 (TDM sniper cool) and UT3
NOLF 2 (hardly anyone on when I have tried)

Is it like any of the above?
 
Nah.

The Call of Duty series are very unique. Think along the lines of MOH:AA, but with modern situations. :)
 
It's mad and fast-paced, and can be quite frustrating what with umpteen blockers / cheats / airstrikes / helicopters etc etc.

However the graphics are excellent, the weapon system inspires frenzied levelling, and it's really good fun :).

Oh and:

- don't expect to live long
- it's a total nade fest especially on wet work.
 
I found after reaching level 55 it got very repetative, I loved it up until then. I rarely play it now :(
 
Frantic, but quality.

You have to take breathers to actually think whether you are enjoying it or not.

Very involving stuff.
 
Just finished a quick 20 min stint now. It is as others have said, frantic but a lot of fun.

It suits me perfectly, as I don't have the time to play for long periods. I have got to lvl 38 so far, and the constant unlocks are nice. It might get a little repetitive once I reach 55, but it's been great fin so far.

Exactly. Its great to just pick up and play.

I've just reached level 55 and find it getting a little repetitive now. Nothing really to aim for and finding decent servers with mature players harder to find now :(
 
I think I should give it a try - I just don't like it when everyone is really good and i can't get a kill in edgeways... I class myself as median player
 
hm, dont get why aload of ppl say its boring when you are 55, it depends why you are playing, i personally dont play for the rank ups or online achievements, i think theyre a bit stupid really if they are the basis of playing, i play because i find it fun, its ever changing because of who you play etc.
You should like it. Its best modern day FPS iv played, online is great, and im FUSSY. Iv not given anything real credit due to finding cs pre-steam way better in every way.
 
Great fut. Some small-ish maps, more focussed on close quarters combat.

I prefer the servers that do not have 50 people all firing at the same time, but whatever floats your boat.
 
imho it's fantastic as long as the server you're playing on doesn't have more than about 20 players. More than that and you just end up dying every 10-30 seconds and getting constantly attacked by choppers or airstrikes.


btw, i ONLY play on the hardcore servers - no xhair, no hud, and increased damage.
